ISSUE 13 JANUARY 2012

Hi everyone, Well it has been one busy week here as we gear up to next Wednesdays TechStartupJobs Fair at the Innovation Warehouse. There will be jobs for developers, designers, marketers, sales people, product managers, testers... you name it. Thank you to everyone who has got involved in making the fair happen. By this time next week we hope to have lots of new connections made and for some of you to be working on some great new projects soon. Massive thanks also to everyone who has volunteered to help with our meetups, you cannot imagine how appreciative I am to receive thirteen responses after asking the question last week. You know who you are and I look forward to helping you become central in the LSR community. Regarding the poll last week, while I cant claim there has been a stampede to answer the question of do you think that doing business in 2012 will be easier or more difficult for you than in 2011, we do have a marginal winner: most of you think itll be easier. Now lets see what the reality brings. On that note, weve organised a new Startup Masterclass to help inform those of you considering or already looking for Angel or VC funding this year. Youll hear from Octopus Ventures Alan Wallace and Andrey Kessel, investor and Springboard mentor as well as Mariko Tokioka from Quipper who closed a seed round in November 2011. And, finally, a reminder that you can now follow our new Twitter handle @techmeetupslsr for the latest news and events for London's tech sector. Wrap up warm, the Siberian cold is coming!

Warm regards, Olga London Silicon Roundabout Meetup Group

THE APPLE INVESTOR: Here Are The Next Four Industries Apple Will Disrupt January 12, 2012 Ticonderoga Securities analyst Brian White made Apple his top pick in 2011 and the stock was his top performer, up 26% during his coverage. This year, Apple remains his top stock pick as a trio of new products is set to extend Apples lead in the new year: iTV, a iPad mini and the iPhone 5. 2012: The Year the RTP Startup Ecosystem Explodes January 11, 2012 Apologies to you Mayan calendar believers, I didnt mean to alarm you with the title. 2012 wont be the year that random Durham entrepreneurs spontaneously combust although that could happen, its highly unlikely. Ill make it up to you by not making an easy joke at your expense.
