Korean Language Speech Contest A Korean language speech contest at Camp Red Cloud is scheduled for 3 p.m. Jan. 21 at Mitchells Club. Participants will prepare a three-minute speech in Korean and be judged on their ability to deliver it clearly and correctly. Prizes will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place. Its open to non-Korean U.S. military ID card holders. All speeches must be in keeping with Army values. For more information, call 732-8189. Commissary Closed The Camp Red Cloud Commissary will be closed Monday, Jan. 23 in observance of the Lunar New Year holiday and will instead be open Wednesday, Jan. 25. Single soldiers seeking quarters should contact the Army lodges at Camp Red Cloud in Uijeongbu or Camp Casey in Dongducheon. They will be reimbursed for the lodging expense. First Aid/CPR Class The American Red Cross is offering a first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (adults, children and infants) class from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m., Jan. 27 in the Camp Casey Red Cross Office, bldg. 2451. The class will help people learn how to confidently assist with a medical emergency. The deadline to register is one day prior to the class. The cost is $40 and is payable with cash, check or credit/debit card, and must be paid at the time of registration. Road Conditions Did you know that when road conditions are RED, school buses continue to run unless the school is closed? School bus drivers are professionals who have received extensive professional driver training and certification to safely operate a motor vehicle during adverse weather conditions. Senior Army leaders will not permit anyone to drive in road conditions that could potentially put drivers and their passengers in danger. Lunar New Year Driving Traffic on all Korean roadways will be heavy and congested during the Lunar New Year holiday, Jan. 21-24, and perhaps a few days before and after. These conditions may put military and civilian drivers at risk. Road conditions for U.S. Army Garrison Red Cloud and transportation motor pool vehicles only are red from 6 p.m. Jan. 20 through midnight Jan. 21. Road conditions for those same vehicles are amber from 12:01 a.m. Jan. 22 through midnight Jan. 23. They are once again red from 1 a.m. to midnight Jan. 24. The only vehicles authorized for movement are those used for mail, law enforcement and medical emergencies. Motorists should avoid the dangers posed by drivers under the influence during this holiday, which typically includes parties and the consumption of alcohol. Public transportation is the safest mode of travel. Use extreme caution regardless of how you travel during this time of year. Lunar New Year At Camp Casey, a Lunar New Year celebration is scheduled
