One Day of Universal Consciousness in Guatemala to mark the end of Mayan Calendar
One Day of Universal Consciousness is an initiative launched under the banner of One Human Society - a department of Ananda Marga actively engaged in bringing people together through love and peace all over the world.

Human beings should always remember that living beings are only actors in the vast universal drama composed by Traka Brahma. This is not their real identity. Someone may play the role of a king in a drama but they might not even have two handfuls of rice in their house. Someone plays the role of a poor subject in the drama, but in real life they may be a very rich man. One should remember: We are only playing specific roles in a great drama. I will act properly according to the role I have been given in this drama. This is a persons duty. It is meaningless for a person to think about anything more than this about what is beyond ones power. 4 April 1979, Patna Shrii Shrii Anandamurti

The choice of December 21, 2012 and the nuclear location of Guatemala is in reference to the end of the Mayan Calendar that marks according to the native people of Guatemala and South of Mexico the start of a new era. Shrii Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar had announced on 24 March 1990 in Calcutta, India the coming of big changes with the following statement: History moves in rhythmic waves in a systaltic flow. It moves and moves, then there is a galloping jump. Again it moves and moves again, then there is another galloping jump, and so on. All of a sudden there are galloping jumps epoch-making eras. We are now at the threshold of this jump. We are not only at the threshold, we have just crossed the threshold of a new era. We are now at the threshold of something new of the new age and we are now passing through such an age. Do you realize it? We are no more at the threshold. You should be ready for great changes, otherwise balance will be lost.

Marking the Beginning of a New Era - One Day of Universal Consciousness in Guatemala has the meaning to bring people together where the harsh reality seems to divide them phsically and mentally due to fear and ignorance. Guatemala is living difficult times but the nature of spiritual people cant be wiped out. There is a strong underlying spiritual energy in all Guatemala felt by all the native people who understand at the deeper level the eternal Truth of humanity. Universal Consciousness is the common thread for the whole creation. There should not be any fear of annihilation of the human society.
The end of the Mayan calendar is not the end of the world; it is an astronomical calculation that marks the end of one cycle and the beginning of a new one. Let us come together and celebrate in the most dignified way, removing all bounderies that divide our minds. We will meditate in the place we live and we will celebrate with neighbors as our friends in the most sacred immortal human tradition of hospitality. For 24 hours on december 21st - 2012 - Human society cannot be divided into many - Human society is One For those interested to coordinate the organization of One Day of Universal Consciousness, please write to prsnys@ampsnews.org

Man Is Only an Actor in the Great Drama

The world of living beings has been created within the imagination of Parama Purua. It is the resolution of Taraka Brahma to emancipate living beings, but only those who want liberation get liberation. When a human wants or longs for liberation, they attain the sadguru. Muktykunkay sadguruprptih. every action must have its reaction. But my point is this: You yourself areTraka Brahma; your duty is to liberate the living beings. You can give liberation to whomever you please. In form of Traka Brahma you can create as you wish and destroy as you wish. In this drama of yours you have created many characters who are very honest people, ideological people. If one does virtuous deeds then one gets liberation. In order to teach the people this you create these kinds of characters. And you also create sinful characters in order to teach the people how much a person degenerates as a result of their sinful behavior. In this drama of the great war which has taken place in field of Kuruketra, you could have had my hundred sons play roles of righteousness and the Pandavas play roles of unrighteousness, if you had wished it. In that case my hundred sons would have gotten salvation and the Pandavas would have gone to hell. You are Traka Brahma, the author of everything, and now, after having made me cry, you come to console me! What Gandhari said was correct. Traka Brahma formulates his plan in order to produce itihs [history with educative value], to teach the people. If one does honest works then one moves towards the eternal truth, and if one performs dishonest works then one moves towards untruth. He wanted to fix this great teaching in the minds of human beings. Thereafter comes the other part of the story. Gandhari said: Kra, give me permission to curse you. Kra replied: Okay, curse me. I give you permission. Then Gandhari cursed him by saying: Just as my entire lineage has been destroyed before my very eyes, may your Ydava lineage be destroyed before your very eyes as well. Let it be so, Kra replied.

However some want liberation and some do not. One person wants liberation but does not get it, while another gets liberation even though they do not want it. What kind of a thing is this? Some people say, mungan mara samn hi, mat koi mungo bhikh [to beg like death, so do not beg]. Then some other say bin munge motii miile, muge miile n rkh [You can get the boon of emerald without asking, but not even ashes if you beg for them]. It is a strange thing, a mysterious thing, and this mystery is the drama of Parama Purua. Living beings are only characters in that drama. Human beings have come to this earth with a fixed role to play, and that role must be properly observed. One should always bear in mind that one is a character in this divine drama. And who is the author or composer of this drama? Traka Brahma.

This reminds us of an old story from the Mahbhrata. After the battle, the battleground of Kuruketra became a cremation ground. At the end of the war some people came there from the Kaoravas side, among them were women and a few elderly gentlemen. The mother of the Kaoravas, Gandhari, was also there. Kunti, the mother of the Pandavas, and Kra, the Pandavas friend, were present as well, along with the blind Dhritarastra. Everyone was standing in that cremation ground and weeping. The Kaoravas were also weeping, even Gandhari, for she had lost her beloved hundred sons in the war.

Kra approached Gandhari and said: Mother, why are you weeping? Death is a natural law of the world. Jtasya hi dhruvormrtyuh. One who is born will die. So what is there to cry about? Gandhari replied: Yes Kra, I have also told the distressed suffering the bereavement of death the same thing that you are telling me today. I have consoled them with those very same words. You know this and I know this, so what is the need of telling me this? She continued: Kra, you have come here today to console me in my grief, but I ask you, behind this great event whose mind was at work? Who was the author of this great plan? Was it not you? Kra replied: Those who have committed injustice and sinned have been punished. What can I do about that? Gandhari again said: Everything you have said up until now is quite correct. From the worldly point of view, everything that has happened up until now is as it should be, because

In Denver Dada Dharmapremananda and Dada Jiivapremananda joined the marade for Martin Luther Kings Day. The parade was joined by more than 5,000 people from the city and surrounding. The two orange monks of Ananda Marga caught the interest of local media and people. They made the acquaintance with the auditor of City and County of Denver. They distributed several brochures and found many people who are interested in coming to our Saturdays yoga class at Pearl St. Jagrti. Brother Danesh has been running regular yoga classes in Denver twice a week. He also runs regular feeding project in Denver. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays he picks up car load full of packed and canned food from VOA and drops it off at a few shelters in the community. Brother Nathan helps out on Mondays. We are looking for more voluteers to cover all days of the week. The name of the project is called Yogis Pantry and can be found on facebook.com.

The RU comittee of AMPS-Haiti which gave itself a name : Comite de la lumiere Ananda Marga has organized a friendly debate between the chief Imam of Haiti, a Voddoo representative of the national comittee and an Ananda Marga monk. The question asked was: How can we bring more light to Haiti and how can we bring more unity into the spiritual fabric of Haiti. While the muslim Imam insisted on the fact that we need to concentrate on one God only, one God without any attributes, the vodoo priest made it clear that vodoo is not negativity or black magic, but a universal teaching but which has no official books. The Ananda Marga monk explained the principle of knowledge and action which is a tool to make a better human being no matter what religion one belongs. Rather the discipline of yoga makes one a better christian or a better muslim as it strengthens the faith in God through meditation. The debate ran from 2:30 to 5:00, on the 5th of January, refreshments and vegetarian sandwich were served. A Great start for the New Year to a Great Year 2012 in Haiti. The Mayan Civilization by Ac. Prof Dhanjoo N. Ghista

The Maya is a Mesoamerican civilization, noted for the only known fully developed written language of the pre-Columbian Americas, as well as for its art, architecture, and mathematical and astronomical systems. Initially established during the Pre-Classic period (c. 2000 BC to 250 AD), according to the Mesoamerican chronology, many Maya cities reached their highest state of development during the Classic period (c. 250 to 900 AD), and continued throughout the Post-Classic period until the arrival of the Spanish.. The Classic period (c. 250900 AD) witnessed the peak of large-scale construction and urbanism, the recording of monumental inscriptions, and a period of significant intellectual and artistic development, particularly in the southern lowland regions. They developed an agriculturally intensive, city-centered empire consisting of numerous independent citystates. This includes the well-known cities of Tikal, Palenque, Copan and Clakmul, but also the lesser known Dos Pilas, Uaxactum, Altun Ha, and Bonampak, among others. the archaeological site of Naranjo tures that lacked, for the most part, the was the capital of the kingdom of large and numerous plazas of the ClasSaal. sic. The land (chan chen) of the kingdom and its capital were called Wakabnal or Maxam and were part of a larger geographical entity known as Huk Tsuk. Interestingly, despite constant warfare and eventual shifts in regional power, most kingdoms never disappeared from the political landscape until the collapse of the whole system in the 9th century AD. In this respect, Classic Maya kingdoms are highly similar to late Post Classic polities encountered by the Spaniards in Yucatn and Central Mexico: some polities could be subordinated to hegemonic rulers through conquests or dynastic unions and yet even then they persisted as distinct entities. At the onset of large-scale construction during the Classic Era, a predetermined axis was typically established in a cardinal direction. Depending on the location of natural resources such as fresh-water wells, or cenotes, the city grew by using sacbeobs (causeways) to connect great plazas with the numerous platforms that created the sub-structure for nearly all Maya buildings. As more structures were added and existing structures rebuilt or remodeled, the great Maya cities seemed to take on an almost random identity that contrasted sharply with other great Mesoamerican cities such as Teotihuacan and its rigid grid-like construction.

Ballcourt at Tikal, Guatemala At the heart of the Maya city were large plazas surrounded by the most important governmental and religious buildings, such as the royal acropolis, great pyramid temples and occasionally ballcourts. Though city layouts evolved as nature dictated, careful attention was placed on the directional orientation of temples and observatories so that they were constructed in accordance with Maya interpretation of the orbits of the heavenly bodies. Immediately outside of this ritual center were the structures of lesser nobles, smaller temples, and individual shrines; the less sacred and less important structures had a greater degree of privacy. Outside of the constantly evolving urban core were the less permanent and more modest homes of the common people.

AMURT - 10 Communities Ready to Produce Iodized Salt

AMURT together with LOCAL-Haiti (Local Capacities Alliance), the Agriculture Ministry, and other emerging new partners has begun Phase II of its integrated strategy targeting the reduction of Iodine Deficiency Disorder while improving the socio-economic balance in the region.

After

Before

The 5-year initiative beginning on January 1st 2012 is structured based on the lessons learnt since July 2005 when AMURT first began intervening in the salt domain. It is based on a balanced and integrated approach to development which will seek to establish: + a social entrepreneurship model (Phase I shown on the photo above) which has the capacity to produce 9,000 MTs of iodized salt annually. + a small producers cooperative model which will integrate the small producers into the larger scheme through training, certification, cooperatives, and value chain support/market penetration. + phase by phase expansion into adjoining unused areas integrating a growing number of producers and increasing the production capacity of the social model to 20,000 MTs of salt annually + the revenue of the social model will be distributed as follow: 25% amongst the 10 stakeholder villages directly managing the facility, 25% into a capacities building and admin fund providing administrative support and accompaniment for both cooperatives and private producers, 50% into a regional micro-lending fund accessible by cooperatives and associations in order to finance agriculture and livelihood projects in the entire Commune Anse Rouge + a large-scale watershed protection initiative targeting the conservation of the watersheds connected to flashfloods endangering the salt production areas + agricultural livelihoods initiative will invest in irrigation canals, cooperatives, and seed/tools banks The main partnerships for this ongoing and currently expanded strategy depend on the collaboration with relevant actors such as the Ministry of Agriculture, LOCAL-Haiti, UNICEF, Ministry of Health, FAES, WFP, MI, University of Notre Dame, pcH, Article 29 and a variety of local and international organizations with interest in salt production and integrated regional development. AMURT will seek to play a role connecting this initiative with the local communities, ensuring that it follows participative bottom-up approach which not only seeks to attain its objectives but also contributes to a durable social, economic, and environmental equilibrium in this isolated area of Haiti. Satsaunga - Spiritual Company

There must be a careful selection of the company you keep. That is what in Sanskrit is called Satsaunga. Sat means good, and saunga means association. So while selecting company you should be careful whether its discourses, its activities, its plans or programmes decrease the distance between you and your Lord. This is Satsaunga, good company. Otherwise it is Asatsaunga (bad company). Even intellectual discussions of a high order may not be Satsaunga if they have nothing to do with lessening the distance between you and your Lord, you and your Goal. Shrii Shrii Anandamurti (Ananda Vacanmrtam XIV, 35)

To curb the onslaughts of the immoralists today, arms are more necessary than drums and cymbals. It is not possible to fight against sin as long as there is some weakness in your mind. In this fight, your goal is not the sin or the sinner, your goal is the Supreme Consciousness. Anything that comes in the way of this has to be removed mercilessly. When clouds collect around the pole-star and cover it, your duty will be to remove the clouds and follow the polestar without caring to see where the clouds have gone. Fasting and Dry Fasting - a Health Boone

Dry fasting is the most difficult and powerful detoxification possible. Dry fasting is not for beginner fasters. Dry fasting need a preparation of a few days on juice then water fasting at least one day to be fully effective. Dry Fasting and Dehydration - During dry fasting the body dehydrates but at at a very slow rate. As there is no need for water in the digestive process the need for water in the body during a dry fast is minimal. During dry fasting the entire body slows down as slow as it can go. I suspect that when there is less metabolic activity, the immune system is more effective. I say this without any research to back it except one peek through a dark-field microscope watching a b-lymphocyte in action as it enveloped a foreign particle shimmering with various colors as it change form. The blood was not moving as it was on a heated slide and what I was seeing was what would be occurring in the bloodstream. However with in the body, the blood would be moving with pressure changes and at high velocity and the war between the b-lymphocyte and the foreign particle would occurring in torrent of biological events on a wild roller coaster. I believe that lymphocytes, and other immunological functions would be more effective during dry fasting as there would be less biological activity within the body. Dry Fasting Challenges - It is more physically uncomfortable that water fasting. Your digestive system is completely shut down and breaking a dry fast is crucial and the body is more sensitive. Urine discharges can be painful after two days of dry fasting due to the concentration of waste. Dry Fasting Duration - I have heard of people doing 5-10 days on water fasting and claiming health benefits but I recommend 3 days maximum. Ending a Dry Fast - You can end a dry fast by drinking water, juice or a small amount of juice fruit. Dry Fasting Weight Loss - Dry fasting has the greatest rate of weight loss but much it is short term as the body will rehydrate quickly. Dry Fasting Recommendations - Listen to your body during dry fasting. Do not push it if you are feeling pain or any stomach aches. Dry Fasting Preparation - I recommend 3 to 5 days juice fasting then 1 to 2 days water in preparation for dry fasting. Dry Fasting Benefits - I believe dry fasting would be very effective against Candida and virile infections. Please post any research, or links on dry fasting. He wants "everyone to be guaranteed the minimum physical requirements of life, all human beings to get scope for the full exploitation of their psychic potentiality, all human beings to get equal opportunity to attain the absolute truth, and endowed with all the glories and achievements of the world to march towards the Absolute." In and through this NeoHumanistic movement, He wants everyone to be made conscious of the purpose and meaning of life."

Throughout the world there is only one race: Its name is the Human Race. All are nourished with the same milk of Mother Earth; The sun and the moon are the companions of all.

NEO-HUMANISM
Principles and Cardinal Values, Sentimentality to Spirituality, Human Society

"You came into the core of my heart and awakened me from dull slumber. You painted my mind with Your bright hue. I was weary with my unending journey, full of confusion and misunderstanding. My life was polluted with poisonous dissonance. You dispelled all with a wave from Your hand. You vibrated my life with Your joyous rhythm. I was burdened with conceit and humiliation, and by my load of disappointments and dashed hopes. You came and removed the millstone from my neck. You drenched my life with Your glorious effulgence.

" What is Neo-Humanism? When the underlying spirit of humanism is extended to everything, animate and inanimate, in this universe I have designated this as NeoHumanism. This Neo-Humanism will elevate humanism to universalism, the cult of love for all created beings of this universe. Explaining humanity and humanism in a new light will give new inspiration and provide a new interpretation for the very concept of human existence. Neo-Humanism will help people understand that human beings, as the most thoughtful and intelligent beings in this created universe, will have to accept the great responsibility of taking care of the entire universe -will have to accept that the responsibility of the entire universe rests with them. Neo-Humanism will make people understand that they are not merely ordinary beings. This philosophy will liberate them from all inferiority feelings and defects and make them aware of their own importance; it will inspire them to build a new world. "

Neo-Humanism: Principles and Cardinal Values, Sentimentality to Spirituality, Human Society By Shrii Prabhat Rainjan Sarkar Hardcover, 348 pages Price: $35.00 A progressive society is verily the composite of those beings who are engaged in the noble task of creating a conducive environment for human progress. This is what Part 1 is all about: what constitutes human progress, how one is to proceed in this direction, and the spirit of society. The conversion from sentimentality to spirituality constitutes the content of Part 2. The theme of Part 3 deals with social values and human cardinal principles, balance in all the strata of human existence, the principles and application of Progressive Utilization Theory (PROUT), re-organization of nations into self-sufficient or sustainable socio-economic units and their co-ordinated co-operation and merger into self-reliant zones, so as to prevent socio-economic exploitation and attain a high degree of socio-economic parity. Then each socio-economic unit would have the ideological base of Neo-Humanism, with the motto of self-realization and service to humanity.
