Capsule Statement

The goal of teaching this subject is to provide a good understanding of financial decision making process by looking into multiple investment opportunities. From time to time, the managers of all the businesses often find themselves facing investment decisions. The purpose of this subject is to cover the number of factors combine to make investment decision possible.

Learning Objectives
To understand why Return & risk are the critical components of all investment decisions To identify the importance & mechanism of money market and capital market securities for investment decisions To distinguish between the direct & indirect investment opportunities To understand how the securities are traded? To recognize the modern portfolio theory To understand the valuation of securities for investment analysis purpose

Teaching Approach
The resource person shall explain and discuss a topic in accordance with course outline & students shall be asked to solve & discuss various exercises, problems & cases based on those discussions. Guidance in this respect will be provided by the instructor in and outside the class during counseling hours.

Participants Responsibility
Academic integrity is a major part of the foundation of any institution of higher learning. Plagiarism and cheating are among the most common form of academic dishonesty. Plagiarism includes all offences in which the work of another person is claimed, even unintentionally, to be ones own either by copying, purchasing or borrowing such work or failure to give credit for its source. Participants are expected to achieve high standards in their expressions. Participants are required to thoroughly study the topic to be discussed in the next session apart from completing and handing over their assignments.

Grading Policy
Grades are awarded strictly in accordance with the policy of the university.

Examination
Examinations are conducted in accordance with the policy guidelines & date sheet issued by the office of the Controller of examinations.
IMPORTANT!!!! Mobiles phones & other electronic gadgets (except non-programmable calculators) are strictly prohibited & participants are not allowed to carry these [even if turned off/silent] in the examination room during 2 hours of examination. If any participant is found guilty during examination timings [for whatever reason], he will be disqualified from that examination (UMC Case) and will be awarded Grade "F" for that course.

Attendance Policy

Regularity and punctuality will be very strictly observed. You have an allowance of only six absents (Out of 30 sessions). This includes the leaves that you get approved from your Batch Advisor. Regarding punctuality, you will be marked present only if you arrive in the class within five minutes of the scheduled time. If your group is making a presentation and you are not there, you get a zero. If you miss a Quiz/Assignment/Case Study, you will get zero for that session. Even though, there is no direct grade for attendance, but your punctuality may benefit you in many ways when your final grade is computed at the end of the semester.
