Huskies Highly Anticipating the Spring Campaign

Tomostinthenorthernpor=onsoftheU.S.,golfis notevenagmentoftheimagina=onrightnow. ButnotfortheHuskieswhowillstarttheirspring seasonontheroadinFlorida.TheHuskieswillbe par=cipa=ngintwotournamentsthismonthand eighttournamentsthissemester.Thismonths tournamentsincludetheBigEastMatchPlay ChampionshipandtheNutmegClassic. Theteamhashighhopesforthespringandwilllook toapplywhattheylearnedinthefall.Formanyof theplayers,especiallytherstyearguys,thefall servedasabiglearningexperience.Asfreshman ChrisWiatrputit,Itsimportanttogetotoan earlystartintheBigEastMatchPlayChampionship, thatswhywevebeenworkingsohardintheo seasontosharpenuparoundthegreensanddoa lotofworkonthementalsideofthegame. InKiawahtheHuskieshadatoughtournament.But accordingtoSeniorJebBuchananthattournament hasgiventheteamthemo=va=ontodobeWerand prac=ceharder.Welearnedalotfromthat tournamentandweshouldbehiXngourstride goingintothespringseason. CoachPezzinoknowsthattheHuskiescanhavea successfulspringseason.AccordingtoCoachif theseguysthinktheirwaybeWeraroundthegolf courseandpreparebeWermentallyandphysically theywillbesuccessful.Asforexpecta=ons,Coach justwantstheguystocompete.Hebelievesno tournamentshouldbeweightedmoreheavilythen anotherfortheplayers. Thegolfregularseasonwillculminatewiththe BigEastChampionshipattheendofApril.Then,if theHuskiesaretoholdatop60rankingwitha beWerthan50%winra=otheywillqualifyforthe NCAAregionalheldinMay.

the options. I would ask myself, do I feel like going for the agstick over the middle of the green would save me strokes more than 50% of the time. If the answer is no, my decision is simple. I will play it safe to a spot I know I feel comfortable attacking.
The same is true with driving the ball o the tee. Sometimes aiming straight down the center of the fairway is not always the right play. Now, the picture below on the right has a creek that runs down the entire right-hand side of the fairway. In this situation, it may be best to aim for the right side of the fairway to try and take the water out of play. For the more advanced play, I would start it down the left hand side of the fairway with a little cut. You have to stand up on the tee knowing that it is better to be in the right-hand rough, than in the creek.
