Introduction:

During the past few decades, tourism has become one of the worlds most profitable industries and the most important civil industry representing annually a US dollar 3.5 million workers (one in 15 workers worldwide).(Meguid, 2006) Tourism is travel for recreational, leisure or business purposes. The World Tourism Organization defines tourist as people who travel to and stay in places outside their usual environment for more than twenty-four hours nd not more than one consecutive year for leisure, business and other purposes not related to the exrcise of an activity remunerated from within the place visited.(Carr, Implication for Tourism Planning and Destination Management) In 1991, the World Tourism Organization (WTO) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) collaborated with various government agencies and private organizations in the Philippines to make the country a bastion of ecotourism. It was not until 1999, however, that an executive order was passed to structure its development. The Department of Tourism (DOT) led the preparation of the Philippine Tourism Master Plan which aims to position the country as a world-class tourism destination. In 1992, the National Tourism Congress promoted the theme "ecotourism" with the guiding principle of sustainable tourism development. The plan culminated through a technical workshop to develop a framework on how ecotourism projects in the Philippines can be best realized. In 1999, President Fidel Ramos proclaimed the Executive Order 111, which states: "The State shall develop and promote sustainable tourism while enjoining the participation of the Filipino people in enhancing the growth and competitiveness of the Philippine economy; and The State shall ensure the sustainable use, development, management, protection and conservation of the country's environment and natural resources and cultural heritage for the enjoyment of the present and future generations. This formally established the organizational structure of ecotourism in the Philippines. It also led to the creation of the National Ecotourism Development Council (NEDC). (Ehow.com Ecotourism Philippines) Ecotourism is sustainable tourism within a natural area that is designed to help preserve the local culture, lifestyle and wildlife while providing visitors a total learning experience. Through ecotourism, nature-loving and environmentally conscious tourists are able to get a true taste for the local culture as well as the surrounding area. Community participation, natural resources protection, cultural knowledge and environmental ethics are all part of the ecotourism

model. In addition to preserving a specific way of life, ecotourism provides increased revenues to areas that are often traditionally poor or disadvantaged. (trails.com Ecotourism Philippines) According to the manila bulletin MANILA, Philippines Generating over 3.2 million visitors from January to October, the Philippines has continued to yield positive gains in tourism and is now 13 percent ahead of the 3.8 million target arrivals for 2011, the Department of Tourism (DOT) reported. During the 10-month period, the country generated an impressive 3,185,866 visitors and posted a 12 percent growth compared to the same period last year. The month of July recorded the biggest arrivals with 360,784 while the month of February posted the highest growth at 18.52 percent. Portending well to the tourism industry is the consistent positive growths recorded on a month to month basis. (Manila Bulletin 2011) In relation with this the researchers conducted a study to have a survey for the tourist on what kind of tourist attraction they want particularly in Antipolo City. As the researchers observed that despite of the other tourist attraction they have, especially in terms of ecotourism still some tourist were not totally aware of how beautiful this city was. The researchers aimed to help the city to promote their different attractions and also to classify this, for them to easily identify the type of tourism that the tourists demand.
