Special Issue on Control and Grid Integration of Distributed Generation

Call for Papers
The international concern over climate change is driving many countries to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by means of political and regulatory pressure and to increase the total electrical supply energy from renewable sources. Electricity market liberalization and the priority given to renewable sources along with the worldwide promotion of renewables encourage the development of the distributed generation (DG) and renewable sources. Nevertheless, the connection of large amounts of DG to distribution systems presents a number of technical challenges to distribution network operators. These challenges are partly caused by the mismatch between the location of energy resources and the capability of local networks to accommodate new generation. Active management and smart grids represent an alternative approach to enabling national targets for renewable energy and increasing penetration of renewables into the existing distribution networks. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
Distributed generation planning and operation Control methods for integration of renewable energy Grid interfacing topologies and control techniques for

robust and exible DG integration

Innovative control of power electronic converters in

distributed power grids

Modeling of the dynamics of distributed power sys-
