mandated requirements will face the possibility of discipline, including but not limited to suspension, demotion or dismissal, and the suspension or revocation of credentials.

Testing Training Video


2012 Test Examiner Guidelines

The video presentation must be shown to

teachers, proctors and test examiners prior to the administration of the STAR tests. It is approximately 40 minutes long. Central will send the DVD video presentation out, beginning on February 13th. Schools may need to plan two testing meetings:
1. Review of the video presentation 2. Review of site specific testing procedures

The video includes:


Test Security Before, during, and after testing responsibilities State guidelines on the academic preparation for

state assessments, and District Policy on testing

STAR Test (Including Field Tests) Security Affidavit


The video presentation: Reviews each statement on the affidavit. Charges principals and testing coordinators with the

responsibility of making sure that staff members UNDERSTAND what they are signing.
Has taken the requirements from the California Ed.

Schools must:
Keep agendas and sign-ins of the training sessions

for school records. Provide each participant with a copy of the 2012 STAR Security Affidavit during the training session. Encourage participants to discuss the topics as needed to ensure understanding. Cover specific school level logistics for administrating the state tests.

Must do:
Every child must have their own

test booklet. Must identify the test in grade 7 and up. Must mark version number in grade 4 and up.

Testing Meetings
Testing meetings are mandatory. Testing meetings may be accomplished

either face-to-face or on-line. Records of principals and testing coordinators completing training is kept on file centrally.

Sample STAR Testing Parent Notification, Spring 2012


MEM-5693 START Testing Parent Notification, Spring 2012 Parent notification must take place before the end of February. The letter explains background information regarding the STAR program. Informs parents of their right to request their child be excused from all or parts of the tests. School should accept all written forms of requests. Students are also entitled to exercise their free speech rights regarding participation in the testing program with answer documents for those students properly coded.

January 23 and February 17. Once registered, you will automatically receive an email confirmation with instructions. Save your email confirmation for important training information. At the end of the online assessment, print a Certificate of Completion. Keep the certificate on file for accountability purposes. Participants must register separately for each training. (CA
