Project Background: (Rationale for selection including previous work)

Staff productivity is always an issue and attracts many mangers. Today in qualitative manner , any staff producing efficiently means performing better and taking actions to achieve day today delivery of results and managing performance improvements in themselves .this art of managing individuals performance have a benefit for the both parties the employer and employee, and known as performance management. The dissertation will look upon the theories that have been highlighted by different authors in respect to the performance management. The researcher believes that a good manager needs to learn to treat their employees properly. The main purpose of this study is to focus on employees view about performing better according to them and how can they be motivated well enough to do good job and have job satisfaction for them selves to retain in company for longer. My main aim of this investigation is to assess the major implications of performance management in morrisons and to evaluate the success of it in the organisation and what does employees have to say about this.

Objectives:

There are main two objectives of this dissertation, primary objectives: 1. The level of performance of employees at morrisons 2. The performance review at morrisons 3. The factors that can motivate employees to perform better. 4. Different managers from the hierarchy contributing to the performance management. The specific secondary objective: 1. To draw a conclusion and give some recommendations.

Knowing the importance of this culture of individuals performance, the researcher will take the example of leading supermarket Morrison plc where performance management is already a part of the organisational culture. But there are still individuals who do not know the importance of performance management and this is the reason. The results of this dissertation will also help to establish the relationship between levels of performance and non financial reward. The dissertation is to use a combination of both primary and secondary research to ascertain whether mangers in Morrison are influencing their employees in order to perform well. This research will be using scenario approach as the findings will apply to the case study. A questionnaire is a method of scenario approach. Case studies of morissons plc situated in Camden town will take where researcher has working experience of 5 years. In order to gain acceptable results, it is important to collect and analyse the largest possible sample in accordance to time factor and budget. So, 20 samples will take to evaluate workforce performance and 20 samples will take to measure managerial efficiency to motivate people to perform well. To make sure the questions are credible, valid and reliable pilot test will be conducting. The researcher will carry on interviews to gather qualitative data, which allow a deeper exploration of the study.
