TOUR SCRIPT (SOUTH TOUR) -------------------TALISAY located at the tip of the south coast .

. Greco-Roman style, constructed by the Agustinians in August 1836. It had two massive twin bell towers and a porch front. It has powerful buttresses on the recessed triangular pediment. The church is 72 meters long, 13 meters wide and 8 meters high. MINGLANILLA located on the southern coast of the island, built around 1880 in an elevated hill. The flame like arches, the painted domes of the bell towers and the spires, typical Gothic style, blend well with the semi-circular arched openings of what is tantamount to an incipient Baroque. The geometric forms and the trefoil arch suggest possible Muslim influence. The flying buttresses , a later addition, greatly enhance the Gothic style. The church has a beautiful transept; that measures 18 m. long 13 m. wide and 15 m. high. SN FERNANDO- built in 1887, the construction was interrupted several times between 1870 1876 due to lack of funds. The church measures 44. 46 m. long, 15.64 m. wide and 7.87 m. high. All the features of the faade point to the Gothic. The main entrance has recessed pointed arches and abruptly sharp gables above it. Two small pointed arched windows flank it on both sides. A large and elaborately carved wheel window rests above the main doorway by the cornice line; it is flanked by two other windows of a less complex design. The pilasters mounted on high rectangular pedestals rise up to the pediment line and end up in pinnacles that divide the faade into three vertical sections. The twin bell towers have flame-like windows and one wheel window on the lower level; they taper into spires crowned by pinnacles at the corners of the painted dome, a GOTHIC feature. - The church masonry has one main nave and 2 aisles68m.long, 22 m. wide, 12 m high - It belongs to the Greco-Roman order with strong Muslim influence SIBONGA- the faade has three sections separated from each other by shallow pilaster. The structure is very simple and bare of any decoration - the flame like arched main entrance dominates the central panel. It is flanked on both sided by twin bell towers. The triangular pediments sports a rose window, typical of the Gothic style - the bell towers lacks sufficient elevation to harmonize with the style of the facade - Pseudo Gothic ARGAO got its name from a towering tree known as sali-Argao which grew abundantly on these mountains. One of the most interesting town for its public stone buildings. - 5- storey belfry, one of the best in the Phils. With 8 bells, 5 are still in good condition and a clock - From tile roof replaced with galvanized iron in the 20th century. - an original organ brought from Mexico is the sole witness from the past - the semi circular arched in the main entrance is flanked by paired columns, the side panels are decorated with bas-reliefs- the center panels of the second level is overcrowded with embellishments. - faade is divided into 3 levels, the use of the paired Corinthian columns and horizontal cornices. - 12m. long, 16 m. wide, 10 m. high - it exemplifies the tendency to introduce Rococo elements in blending with Baroque DALAGUETE comes from a huge tree behind the washer woman named dalakit when the Spaniards came upon a village at the mouth of the ubong spring and asked the woman for the name of the village, 66 km from the city, -built the 33 m. high octagonal 3- storey bell tower between 1850-60, 9 m. diameter by Fr. Juan Alonso, it has 10 bells all still in good condition, it is built in some distance away from the church - faade is divided into 3 levels, upper , middle, lower all integrated with the pediment - the faade looks neat and simple, te white texture grants it the resemblance of a pseudo Rococo style. - Baroque Church characterized by fling buttresses on both sides - The pediment, adorned with finials, has a central niche and a small circular window that served as a lookout against the marauders. BANTAY MOROS - It has one main nave 60 m. long, 18 m. wide and 11m. high

BOLJOON boljo means abrupt tilt, for its natural rock formation. Located on a small plateau near the beach, the church is facing the sea, overlooking the Bohol straight was built in 1701. - the towns people called it dakong balay for its built a large square house 120 m. long, 80 m. wide - its walls were no less than a meter stick, its 4 corners where reinforced with loopholes to watch pirate raids which resulted for the parish priest to enclose the convent and the church with stone fence for protective measure - faade was decorated with carvings of biblical characters such as snake from the garden of eden and Ybix bird - the church is made of coral stones, hardwood and clay tile roofs - it is built like a fortress, inside where it is muggy and sooty, the finest carvings and has relief are still very much in evidence in the retablos and pulpit and religious image, that best conveys a sense of a countrys colonial past, the main nave & transept is 16 m. long, 12 m. wide, 12 m. high - the churchs rectangular belfry was built 1701 to double as fortification against muslim raiders, its windows were constructed to fit cannons - it has a Rococo embellishments on the panels along the shallow pilasters Now the church was declared a National Historical Landmark for its distinct Filipino Baroque style reflective of the aesthetic sense of its friar builders and the artistry and ingenuity of the Filipino workers. The Phil. Natl. Museum declared it s National Culture Treasure together with 25 other churches in 2001
