Loving, Mildred, Mrs. Interview. ABC News. ABC News. 1967. ABC news. Web. 28 Nov. 2011. <http://abcnews.go.com//?id=3278653>. This is a Primary Source Interview. We learned first account how Mrs. Loving felt about the police storming into her house in the middle of the night. She explains how she didnt realize that it was illegal to marry separate races. This made us think about her actual feelings about everything going on, not just that she wanted to live with her husband. It made us see that it was really hard and a long process to get what they ultimately wanted in the end. We used this in our project for the pages that targeted the Lovings and how they felt, and what they did during the case. We quoted her many times throughout the website. Loving v. Virginia. Http://supreme.justia.com////.html. PDF file. This is from the Supreme Court files and gives the whole court case. It has all the laws and reasons both sides are fighting. This is the Justices ruling on the case given by Mr. Chief Justice Warren. This states

how Virginia was wrong and no single state can have a law that goes against the 14th Amendment. It says how it was unconstitutional and that the convictions have to be reversed. In plain black and white, it states how wrong Virginia was. This was the most useful source that we used in this project. We used it on almost every page, in almost everything that we worked on. Without this source, research would have been much harder United States Constitution. Pub. L. IV. Stat. 17 Sept. 1787. N.p., n.d. Web. 9 Jan. 2012. <http://constitutionus.com/>. This is the United States Constitution. It is the fundamental system of our Government and our Laws. We used this in our project for the section of Full, Faith, and Credits. The Lovings should have been able to get married in Washington, DC and move to their home in Virginia because of the Full, Faith, and Credit Clause (Article IV) of the US Constitution. Whole court case. oyez.org. Web. 7 Dec. 2011. <http://www.oyez.org//-1969//_395>. This is the oral argument of the case of Loving v. Virginia. We used this to know exactly what was said and how the court case page played out.

authenticity. BlackPast.org is a collection of what has happened in the past for African Americans. We found this source and we were able to use it in our reaction page because it stated how people felt after Loving v Virginia was decided. Cohen, Bernard. huffington post. N.p., n.d. Web. 7 Dec. 2011. <http://www.huffingtonpost.com/s-cohen-and-evan-wolfson/-equality_b_51866.html>. The Huffington Post is an online newspaper that was a secondary source for us. The article was about how the case of Loving v. Virginia is still used today in same sex marriages as an argument. We were able to use this in our Todays Aspect page. encyclopediavirginia.org. N.p., n.d. Web. 10 Dec. 2011. <http://www.encyclopediavirginia.org/_v_Virginia_1967>. This is a time line of the Loving v. Virginia case. Web. 10 Jan. 2012. <http://family.jrank.org///-Marriage-Difficultiesin-Interracial-Marriages.html>. This website is a secondary source that explains the reactions that people had to the decision of the Lovings case as well as many other cases that mirror the Lovings. We used this source for the picture of the line graph in the slide show of the reaction page. Also, this is where we got most of our information for the reaction page. findlaw.com. N.p., n.d. Web. 17 Dec. 2011. <http://writ.news.findlaw.com//.html>. This secondary source is written by Joanna Gossman in 2007. Gossman explains how the case is used today and the effects of the case (long and short term). We were able to use this information in the reform and reaction pages.

This article tells the story of a interracial couple from Louisiana who were denied a marriage in 2009. It made us realize that prejudice against interracial marriages still exists in some parts of the country even though the Supreme Court ruled this unconstitutional. JFKLibrary. N.p., n.d. Web. 9 Jan. 2012. <http://www.jfklibrary.org//-in-History/-RightsMovement.aspx>. This is a secondary source that gave us information on how President John F. Kennedy was useful in the Civil Rights Movement. It told us that he tried to get the Civil Rights Act ratified before he was assassinated, however, it failed. We used this website in our project on the President John F. Kennedy page. We used it to tell why it was important he was president during the time of the Lovings case. Also, we used the speech on the right side on that page, as well as the quote on the background page. Martin, Douglas. NYTimes 6 May 2008: n. pag. NYTimes.com. Web. 15 Dec. 2011. <http://www.nytimes.com/////loving.html>. This is a secondary source article from the New York Times. Web. 17 Dec. 2011. <http://www.oyez.org//_warren>. This is a secondary source that is about Earl Warren. Earl Warren was the chief justice at the time of the Lovings SCOTUS case. This describes his role and why he was important in the civil rights movement. We used this on the Earl Warren page of the website to give a background on him and why he was important for the chief justice at the time of the

This article tells the story of the Lovings and their fight for equality so they can legally marry. It shows actual quotes that Mrs. Loving said that will be very useful in our project. this made me realize that they never gave up or folded under what they were not aloud or legally aloud to do. They fought and stood up for what they believed in, and eventually got what they wanted. We used this source for the pages that dealt with the Lovings and their take on how everything was taking place. PBS.org. N.p., n.d. Web. 10 Dec. 2011. <http://www.pbs.org////_01.html>. This is a time line of the African-American Civil Rights Movement from 1954 to 1971. It gives us all the important events that lead up to complete equality with Whites. We used this in our project on the Time line page to compare the Civil Rights Movement with the Loving case, as well as on the reaction page to how the African-Americans reacted and what happened to them as a result of the decision. Wallenstein, Peter. OAH Magazine Winter 1995: n. pag. JSTOR. Web. 17 Dec. 2011. <http://www.jstor.org//>. This is a secondary article source that we found on an online magazine. It was the background of the case, not the Lovings background, which gave us more detail, as well as his perception of the case. We used this in our website on the court cases page. - - -. The Right to Marry: Loving v. Virgina. OAH Magazine of History Winter-Spring 1995: 37-41. JSTOR. Web. 26 Nov. 2011. <http://www.jstor.org.ezproxy.bpl.org///.pdf? acceptTC=true>.

This explains the whole history of the case from the beginning and other cases that are exactly like the Lovings. It states how every other case wouldnt even be looked at in the Supreme Court. It states how other cases that were similar around the same year were not changed because it wasnt unconstitutional. This made us realize how lucky the Lovings were to having their case opened in the Supreme Court because they could have just been shoved aside and the laws would have never been changed. We used this on the background page where we show other cases that make you ask yourself, What does it mean to be human? What rights should I have to make decisions regarding my life and my body?
