CHECK LIST First Steps in Chemnitz We compiled a list which contains the most important steps after your arrival in Chemnitz. We recommend following the given order since the individual steps are consecutive. If you have any questions, please contact the International Office staff.

Residents Registration Office Place of Residence: Every international student has to register his / her place of residence in Chemnitz within 14 days after arrival. After the completion of studies, every international student needs to cancel their registration. Necessary documents: passport

Aliens Office / Residence Permit

lease contract Opening Hours: Monday and Friday 8.30am 12.00pm Tuesday and Thursday 8.30am 6.00pm Saturday 9.00am 1.00pm >> At the same time, students from Non-EU-countries make an appointment with Ms Heinz from the Aliens Office in order to receive their residence permit. >> The residence permit costs 60 (in cash) and is usually granted for one year. Foreign students have to extend it in time, which costs 30 . Necessary Documents: passport 1 biometrical photograph (35x45 mm) confirmation of registration at CUT letter of admission (of CUT) confirmation of Registration Office completely filled out form: Antrag auf Erteilung/ Verlngerung eines Aufenthaltstitels (application for / extension of the residence permit) proof of sufficient financial funding 60 in cash In order to pay the semester contribution or the rent, foreign students need to open a German bank account. Open a bank account: - we recommend to make an appointment with the bank in advance - necessary documents: passport letter of admission from CUT confirmation of the Registration Office >> then: - if not done yet: pay semester contribution (ca. 200) - submit account details to the Studentenwerk in order to pay the rent >> important for Non-EU-students: To prove sufficient financial funding, you need to open a blocked account where you only have a certain amount of money available per month (fixed by law, ca. 638).

(Please notice: the matriculation can only be carried out completely when the amount is entered at the bank account of CUT!!) The semester contribution can also be paid via cash-card at the Service Point, so that the matriculation can be completed right away. In order to matriculate at CUT, it is necessary to prove a sufficient health insurance for Germany! - choose between public (statutory / compulsory) and private health insurance companies - Statutory: for international full-time and part-time students from countries that have signed a health care agreement with Germany (e.g. EU, Croatia, Turkey etc.) max. duration of insurance: 14 semesters, max. age of 30 contribution ca. 56 per month Private: for students from countries that have NOT signed a health care agreement with Germany Non-EU-Students (e.g. South Africa) students who would like to get private health insurance >> students who have an insurance from their home country have to get a confirmation about sufficient insurance coverage from a German Health Insurance Company in order to be able to register at CUT. Therefore, every German insurance company offers a special form so that the insurance will be accepted for the matriculation process. (This is a demand of the Service Point, please follow this unconditionally, otherwise you will not be able to matriculate.) necessary documents to get health insurance: passport bank account details letter of admission from CUT

Language course fee

All students who received an admission for the preparatory language course, please transfer the language course fee (1.500) via remittance slip to the named account.
