WYD2011 From Madrid to Manila Overnight Vigil August 20-21, 2011 Ateneo de Manila University Grounds

GENERAL INFORMATION & GUIDELINES DEAR DELEGATES, Congratulations and thank you for joining the WYD2011 from Madrid to Manila Overnight Vigil at the Ateneo de Manila University! The following are some helpful information and guidelines to facilitate your participation in this event. DATE:Saturday, August 20 to Sunday, August 21, 2011 VENUE:Ateneo de Manila University Grounds (Grade School) Katipunan Avenue, Loyola Heights, Quezon City GENERAL SCHEDULE: Gates 1 & 2 will be open at 2PM on Saturday, August 20, 2011. The Program will begin at 4PM and will end with a Closing Mass at 4:30AM on Sunday August 21, 2011. For security reasons, everyone is expected to stay inside the venue throughout the whole duration of the vigil. Once inside the Ateneo de Manila University Grounds, you are advised to refrain from going out of its premises until 6AM of August 21. There will be NO SEATING ARRANGEMENTS at the venue. Everyone is enjoined to sit on the ground. If you will bring your seat, please bring only a small foldable chair. There are emergency centers located in the different parts of the venue. For any immediate concern or problem, go to the nearest one. Security persons will be identied by their uniforms. There will be teams of doctors and medical volunteers to attend to your medical needs. Likewise, there are ambulances on stand-by in case a person may need medical care in a hospital. HOW TO GO TO ATENEO: a. We strongly suggest that you take the LRT2 or drop off nearby and walk to Ateneo. Marshals and information centers will be available along Aurora Blvd. and Katipunan Ave. junction and at C.P. Garcia to respond to your directional needs. b. However, should you decide to bring your car or come in your school bus, please take note of the following:

Katipunan Avenue is the busiest road especially on Saturdays. Trafc will be managed by MMDA and DPOS-Quezon City, but still expect heavy trafc due to the inux of delegates at the site. There are no parking areas inside Ateneo for private cars and buses of delegates. Only places for drop-off's are available. Buses and cars should enter Gate 3: Cars will have to turn left to the Northwest parking area to drop off delegates and exit at Gate 3.5; Buses will have to proceed to the Bus Drop-off place near Masterson Road to drop-off delegates and exit at Gate 2.5. Marshals will be available to manage trafc and give directions to drop off points. WYD OVERNIGHT VIGIL ID's: Please wear your WYD ID upon entering the venue. Similarly, wear these IDs at all times, especially when inside the Ateneo de Manila University Grounds. Please bring one or two valid ID's for verication of your WYD ID. Team Leaders have to bring their GROUP'S REGISTRATION FORMS AND COPIES OF THEIR DEPOSIT SLIPS. They are to ensure the security of their groups. Thus, we suggest that you should come together as a group or delegation. We encourage you to bring banners or ags for your groups/ delegations identication. SECURITY CHECK: NO WYD ID, NO ENTRY policy will be strictly imposed. You need to pass through SECURITY CHECK before entering the main venue. Bags will be checked by security and marshals. Please secure your valuables (cell phones, camera, etc). For Team leaders: Please secure your group; Make sure your members are in place and complete all the time; and Monitor the movements of your members. DRESS CODE: Wear appropriate and comfortable clothing. Students may wear their PE uniforms or any clothes that will identify them with their group. THINGS THAT YOU MAY BRING: You may bring UMBRELLAS, jackets, sweaters, raincoats or anything that will protect you from heat, cold or rain. Remember that the event will be at an open-air venue. You may also bring sleeping bags and mats. Please bring your ROSARY. Souvenir items will be sold in the venue.

FOOD : The WYD 2011 from MADRID to MANILA Overnight Vigil is not meant to be a PICNIC AFFAIR. It is intended to be a similar experience to the Vigil Prayer with the Pope in Madrid, Spain. Thus, it is a FESTIVAL OF FAITH. Food Booths are available at the venue and foods are sold at very affordable prices. Its more convenient to buy food inside the venue. You may bring some food inside the venue. However, since Ateneo is an eco-friendly community, you are being advised not to bring food in styrofoam containers or plastic bags. Silverwares, glass bottles and canned goods are NOT allowed for security reasons. There are no provisions for washing hands, utensils or food containers in the venue. Please bring your hand sanitizers for washing and convenience. Portalets are provided and located in between Gates 1 and 2 inside the fenced compound of the Ateneo de Manila University. Team leaders are requested to bring one garbage bag to help the orderly cleanliness of the venue. Garbage bins are located in several areas of the venue. Please throw your trash in the garbage bins before departing in the morning of August 21. CELL PHONES: Please put your cell phones on SILENT MODE, especially during liturgy, reections and Taiz prayer. SPIRITUAL CONVERSATIONS: There are seminarians and religious formands from various congregations and orders who are available for spiritual conversations from 10PM to 3AM. They are NOT there to hear your confessions. They are, however, free to listen to your stories and sharings in order to guide you to see how our loving God is present and actively moving in your life. They are stationed inside the Blue Eagle Gym. CONFESSIONS: There are priests available to hear confessions from 8PM until 4AM of August 21. Confession sites will be announced during the pre-program at 4PM of August 20. The Confessionals are also inside the Blue Eagle Gym.
