Conference Leader Jacqueline J. Lewis, Ph.D.

Jacqueline Lewis is Senior Minister at Middle Collegiate Church in New York City, and Executive Director of the Middle Project. Lewis is a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary and earned her Ph.D. in Religion and Society/Psychology and Religion at Drew University. Lewis, ordained in the Presbyterian Church (USA), serves on the Multiracial Congregation Task Force of the Reformed Church in America. Lewis has been Adjunct Professor at The Graduate Theological Union and Union Theological Seminary, and is currently on the Doctor of Ministry faculty at Wesley Theological Seminary. She is a nationally recognized speaker and preacher on the topics of racial justice and reconciliation, and has been interviewed on NPRs Weekend Edition, in Forbes Magazine, and has been a featured speaker on 30 Good Minutes. She is the author of The Power of Stories: A Guide for Leaders in Multi-Racial and Multi Cultural Congregations.

Workshop Leaders Eric H. F. Law

Eric Law is the Founder and Executive Director of the Kaleidoscope Institute for Competent Leadership in a Diverse Changing World. He has been a consultant and trainer for building inclusive community for over 20 years working with religious, healthcare, educational and civic organizations in the United States, Canada, Australia and Europe. An ordained priest in the Episcopal Church, Law was the Missioner for Congregation Development for the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles (2000-2005) and the Congregation Development Officer of the Anglican Diocese of New Westminster of British Columbia, Canada (1996-2000). He is the author of multiple books, among them: The Wolf Shall Dwell with the Lamb (also available in Spanish), Inclusion: Making Room for Grace, Sacred Acts, Holy Change, and Finding Intimacy in a World of Fears. Eric is also a composer of church music, a photographer and a playwright. Douglas S. Avilesbernal Douglas serves as Pastor to Calvary Baptist Church of Norristown, PA, where he has been on the staff since 2005. The son of a missionary pastor, he was born in Guatemala, Central America. His birth, calling, and preparation have led him to be a bridge between two different worlds, cultures and languages. His growth in Christian faith has spanned three decades, several continents, and many countries. Avilesbernal is a graduate of Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and has served in local, regional and national American Baptist and ecumenical endeavors on multicultural ministry, racial reconciliation, and community development. Douglas is a sought out speaker on issues of intercultural dialogue, multicultural ministry and immigration reform, as well as a contributor to WorkingPreacher and other denominational and interdenominational resources.

Program Leaders

Amaury currently serves as a Director of Programs at the School of Christian Vocation and Mission of Princeton Theological Seminary. Before coming back to Princeton Seminary, he served congregations in New Jersey and New York, as well as participated in denominational and ecumenical work on multicultural ministry, immigration reform, urban ministry and congregational renewal. He has also engaged in local community development endeavors. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, he studied history at the University of Puerto Rico. In 2002 he moved to New Jersey to purse the M.Div. at Princeton Seminary, and later his doctorate in Urban Ministry and Cultural Identity at New Brunswick Theological Seminary. His passions in ministry and scholarship include Latino/Latin American religious histories and relations, intercultural dialogue and ministry, urban ministry and development, and leadership formation, particularly of underrepresented ethnic and national groups. Kate Skrebutenas Kate currently serves as Reference Librarian at the Luce Library at Princeton Theological Seminary. While most of her career has been spent at Princeton Seminary, she has been a reference librarian at Regenstein Library at the University of Chicago as well as at the Catholic Theological Union where she was also interim director. She has a B.A. in Classics and Religions from Connecticut College, an MLS (Masters of Library Service) from Columbia University and has completed coursework for the M.Div. at Princeton Seminary. She is an avid basketball fan and reader of modern American fiction.
