Solution ATG: Create a Request Group

View the Registry of Executable Files In this section, we will register a new concurrent program using an existing executable (which references an actual file which is stored on the database server), and then include that program in the request group, which will be attached to our System Administrator Assistant responsibility. For more information on directory structures, refer to the Appendix of the course materials. Each application has its own subdirectory under APPL_TOP, whose location is identified by the value of the environment variable. Responsibility = System Administrator 1. Navigate to the Executable window 2. 3. 4. 5. (N) Concurrent -> Program -> Executable.

Press F11 to enter query mode. Type FNDSCURS in the execution file name field. Press CTRL-F11 to execute the query. Determine the EXECUTABLE_ID of the executable. (M) Help > Diagnostics > Examine.

6.

Write down the EXECUTABLE_ID. ___________ Table Name: FND_EXECUTABLES

Create a Custom Program You are going to create a concurrent program which runs the Active Users report, using the executable you just viewed, but with a different program name. An executable may be registered more than once under different concurrent program names if the executable has different parameters. Use your custom application name, which will protect the program on upgrade. Responsibility = System Administrator 7. Navigate to the Concurrent Program Define window. 8. (N) Concurrent -> Program -> Define.

Enter the following information: Program: XX Active Users Report Short Name XXACTIVEUSERS

System Administration <List> XX Active Users report FNDSCURS <List> Oracle Reports Checked (To make available via SRS window.) Checked Checked 132 45 Landscape <List>

(I) Save.

10. Identify the name of the table into which you are inserting a record. _________________ (M) Help > Record History.

11. Determine the value of the EXECUTABLE_ID referenced by the concurrent program you have created. ________________________ (M) Help > Diagnostics > Examine.

12. Where have you seen this value before? ________________________ 13. Determine the value of CONCURRENT_PROGRAM_ID and write the value down. _______________________ (M) Help > Diagnostics > Examine.

Create a Request Group A Request Group is a group of reports and processes. A Request Group is a security feature and is used to control which reports and processes are available to application users with a specific responsibility. Request Sets are a way of running a set of requests at the same time or in a specific sequence. Responsibility = System Administrator 14. Navigate to the Request Group window. (N) Security -> Responsibility -> Request.

15. In the Request Group screen, enter the following: Request Group Name: XX Sys Admin Asst Requests Application: System Administration <List> Code: Leave blank
