.. 4 ..9.1.4.2 (a) Stra y currents flowin g in the soil may produce serious errors inmeasur ement of earth resistan

ce. To eliminate this, hand drivengenerator is used.(b) If the frequency of the supply of hand driven generator coincideswith

the frequency of stray current there will be wandering ofinstrument pointer. An increase or decrease of

generator speed willcause this to disappear.9.1.4. 3 At the time of test, the test ele ctrode shall be separated from theearthing

system.9.1.4.4 T he auxiliary elect rodes shall be of 13 mm diamete r mild steel roddr iven upto 1 m into the ground.9.1.4.5 A

ll the three electr odes shall be so placed that they will beindepend ent of the resistance area of each other.9.1.4.6 If t

he test electrod e is in the form of rod, pipe or pl ate, the auxiliar ycurrent electrode C shall be placed at least 30m

away from it and theauxiliary potential electrode B shall be placed mid way betweenthem.9. 1.4.7 Unless thr

ee consecutive r eadings of test e lectrode resistan ce agreethe test shall be repeated by increasing the distance

betweenelectrod es A and C upto 50 m and each time placing the electrode Bmidway between them.9.1.4.8 On

these principles Megger Earth Tester containin g a direct readin gohm meter, a hand driven generator and auxiliary
