Notes: Exposure Limits are 8-Hour TWA. (Time Weighted Average) unless designated C (Ceiling) or STEL (Short Term Exposure Limit). 4. FIRST AID MEASURES: Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. Skin Contact: Immediately flush with water. Remove contaminated clothing. Eye Contact: Immediately flush with water for a minimum of 15 minutes. Ingestion: Methanol may be fatal or cause blindness. If conscious give water or milk. Seek immediate medical attention. Note to Physician: Effects may be delayed. Ethanol may inhibit methanol metabolism. After following first aid measures, seek medical attention. 5. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES:

Flammable Properties: Flammable Liquid. Vapor may travel considerable distance to source of ignition and flash back. Extinguishing Media: Dry chemical, carbon dioxide or appropriate foam. Unique Aspects Contributing To a Fire: Methanol burns with a clear, almost invisible flame. Acetic acid reacts with most metals to produce hydrogen gas. Special Fire Fighting Procedures: None. Note: As in any fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus, and full protective gear 6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES: Evacuate area. Shut off all sources of ignition. Wear appropriate respirator and chemical resistant gloves and boots. Absorb with spill pillow or other absorbent and place in closed container for later disposal. Ventilate area and wash spill site after material pickup is complete. 7. HANDLING AND STORAGE: Keep container tightly closed. Store on the bottom shelf of a Flammable Storage Cabinet. Handle as
directed and in accordance with good laboratory practices. 8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION: Handle in accordance with good laboratory practices. Respiratory Protection: Not normally needed. If exposure limits are exceeded, use approved Supplied Air Respirator (due to poor

warning properties and short Organic Vapor (OV) service life, OV Cartridge Respirators are not recommended for MeOH).
Eye Protection: Splash goggles or face shield over splash goggles. Skin Protection: Neoprene or other chemical resistant gloves. Disposable nitrile are acceptable for light intermittent exposure. Engineering Controls: Work in a fume hood or use general or other local exhaust ventilation to meet Exposure Limits.

11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION: Primary Route(s) of Exposure under Normal Use: Inhalation, Skin Contact. Target Organ(s): Respiratory system, eyes, skin, teeth, central nervous system, and gastrointestinal tract. Acute Effects: Severe irritation or burns of respiratory system, skin or eyes. Also headache, nausea, dizziness, blurred

vision, coughing, central nervous system depression, respiratory depression, pulmonary edema. Methanol: Oral, rat: LD50 =5628 mg/kg; Inhalation, rat: LC50 = 64,000 ppm/4H; Oral, man: LDLo = 6422 mg/kg: CNS,PUL,GIT; Skin, rabbit: 20 mg/24H MOD. Acetic acid: Orat, rat: LD50 = 3310 mg/kg; Inhalation, mouse: LC50 = 5620 ppm; Skin, rabbit: LD50 = 1060 mg/kg; Intravenous mouse: LD50 = 525 mg/kg. Chronic Effects: Lung, teeth, kidney and liver damage, impaired vision, dermatitis.
Other Information: Chemical Ingredient(s) not classified as carcinogen(s) by OSHA, IARC, NTP, ACGIH, or California. 12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION: Acetic Acid: Aquatic Toxicity- Fathead minnow 96Hr-LC50 >100MG/L; Water flea 96HR-

LC50=410 MG/L; Mosquito fish 48HR-LC5 =251 MG/L; Methanol: Dangerous to aquatic life in high concentrations. Aquatic toxicity rating: TLm 96>1000 ppm. Will biodegrade in soil and water very rapidly. Estimated half-life in ambient atmosphere is 17.8 days. Bioconcentration factor for fish (golden ide) < 10.
13. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS: To determine proper disposal, consult applicable national and regional regulations. Unused product is classified as hazardous waste by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). 14. 15. REGULATORY INFORMATION: EU/GHS Precautionary Statements: Causes burns. Do not breathe vapor/spray. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. Highly flammable. Toxic: danger of very serious irreversible effects through inhalation, in contact with skin and if swallowed. Keep container tightly closed. Keep away from sources of ignition No smoking. Wear suitable protective clothing and gloves. U.S. TOSCA: Constituents listed.
