(Heb.

11:4)

Archibald G. Brown Died 2nd April 1922

Most of the misunderstandings in life arise from this that we do

not attempt to place ourselves in the position of the one with whose judgement we do not agree.
Sow the seed everywhere. Want is the short history of thousands. Their lives consist in not

having. The hands want work, the heart wants sympaty, the body wants bread, the mind wants light, the face wants a smile, the spirit wants hope, the nerves want rest, the conscience wants peace, the soul wants Christ.
Where there is but little personal service, it is not severe to say,

there is little love; for love is an active not a dormant power in the soul.
Let everything else go rather than the meetings for pleading with

God; the prayer meetings.

The Gospel is a fact, therefore tell it simply; it is a joyful fact,

therefore tell it cheerfully; it is an entrusted fact, therefore tell it faithfully; it is a fact of infinite moment, therefore tell it earnestly; it is a fact about a Person, therefore preach Christ.
I know nothing more cursedly cruel than the doctrine that is

somewhat in vogue just now, that you can judge of a persons spiritual standing by the amount of sickness that he has.
It is a vast mistake to imagine that any bungler can do Gods

work. The soul is too delicate a thing to be mauled about by an unthinking man. Merely hurling texts at the heads of hearers is not likely to result in great blessing.
May God give you many a season of ecstacy; but ecstacy is not

good everyday diet. Jesus Christ himself, the everyday Saviour, is the simple diet of life.
I am inclined to think that in the present day there is an unholy

lust after mere visible success (in christian work) we are responsible, as workers not for success, but for faithfulness.
You will never have fellowship with anyone so delightful as

fellowship in the Spirit.

The little shrimp knows nothing about the little shrimp in the

other pool, although only separated from it by a small ridge of rock. Oh, dear little shrimp, do come out of that little puddle of your own! Do not be so small; do not live in a clique.
As a church believe this motto, and act on it: He faileth not.

Show that you believe it by acting on it.

It is not the means used, but the Lords blessing on them (that is

important.)
Providing amusement for the people is nowhere spoken of in the

Scriptures as a function of the Church. The mission of amusements produces no converts.

Cease to amuse, and seek to arouse. Shun the clap of a delighted

audience, and listen for the sobs of a convicted one. Give up trying to please men who have only the thickness of their ribs between their souls and hell; and warn, and plead, and entreat, as those who feel the waters of eternity creeping upon them.
If I were to preach properly, I should preach, I know, with

streaming eyes.
Did mortal tongue ever utter three more blessed words, or words

with more infinite meaning than He saved us?

Friend, remember that it is better to read 1 quote 10 times (meditatively) than to read 10 quotes 1 time (superficially). Gathered by Totaf.
