Successfully navigate your way through the uncertainty of the downstream market
Dear colleague,

TAKREER and the WRA invite you to join over 250 industry leaders and decision makers from the Middle East rening, petrochemicals and fuels sectors at the 12th Annual Middle East Downstream Week. There is no doubt that the Middle East rening sector is facing numerous challenges including uncertain margins, increasingly stringent quality and environmental standards, and competition from non-renery supply additions. How will biofuels, XTLs and NGLs impact Middle East reners? How can reners improve upon existing operations whilst protecting margins? What new opportunities exist in the fuels market? And nally, what are the future protability projections for rening and petrochemical integration projects? MEDW 2011 will not only answer these critical questions, but will also serve as a platform for strategic and technical downstream professionals to come together, exchange ideas and drive the industry forward. In addition to the main conference days and Fuels Symposium, highlights of the meeting include the Axens Middle East Rening Seminar, Downstream Integration Workshop, Site Visit to Ruwais Renery and TAKREER hosted gala dinner, the social highlight of the entire event. We look forward to welcoming you to Abu Dhabi to join the Middle Easts most stimulating downstream discussion.

The 2011 Middle East Downstream Week Bridging the gap between strategy and technology.

Dominica Andrews Conference Director, MEDW 2011 WRA

P Dont miss the TAKREER hosted gala dinner on the evening of the 9 May, which will be full of surprises, .S. entertainment and unrivalled networking opportunities!

Site Visit: TAKREERs Ruwais Renery

Wednesday 11 May 2011
TAKREER is providing a limited number of MEDW 2011 participants with the unique opportunity to visit Ruwais and see the foundations being laid for the extensive expansion. This trip will enable you to view the facilities, meet the rening managers and gain rst hand insight into this major project. About the Ruwais Renery Expansion Project On 25 October 2010, the EPC Package 1 of the crude distillation unit and associated downstream units of the Ruwais Renery Expansion Project (RREP) was inaugurated, signifying the start of construction. The RREP is a very important and strategic project for TAKREER and is part of ADNOCs overall strategy to develop the petroleum resources of the emirate of Abu Dhabi. It will double the rening capacity of the company by processing 400,000 barrels per calendar day (417,100 BPSD) of Murban crude oil and provide feed stocks for the neighbouring petrochemical industry, allowing integration between the rening and petrochemical industries of ADNOC. The overall objective of the RRE is to produce the maximum quantity of propylene together with fuel-type distillate products (e.g. gasoline, jet fuel, gas oil) with minimal residual products. It is expected that under RREP the next 3 years will see further intensive efforts taking place in Ruwais with manpower exceeding 30,000 at the peak to erect and build the state-ofthe-art new renery. It is worth mentioning in November 2009, the company launched ve EPC packages to implement the onshore/ offshore facilities for the RRE Project. The EPC awards were made to South Korean Companies, SK Engineering and Construction Corp., GS Engineering and Construction Corp., Samsung Engineering and Construction Ltd. and Daewoo Construction. In addition to these ve packages, the RREP location required signicant soil improvement and in June 2009, Dredging International of Belgium commenced work on the site preparation. The RRE site is located to the West of the existing Ruwais industrial area and occupies an area of approximately 10Km2. Please note: Places are strictly limited and allocated on a rst come rst served basis. We recommend early registration to avoid disappointment as all security forms must be pre-submitted by 23 April 2011. All interested participants must apply for a mission visa to gain access to the renery. Email n.harwood@theenergyexchange.co.uk for more details regarding the site visit.
