Instructor will show examples of eBooks and allow students to read examples related and not related to the Simple Machines project. Instructor will refer to information learned in classroom and ask students to identify examples of simple machines throughout the school. Instructor will connect perceived interest in exploring eBooks to the fact that students will be creating their own to read on mobile devices, to publish online, and to share with others.

RELEVANCE R.1. Goal orientation Instructor will match curriculum and objectives to grade level technology competencies. All required classroom and technology based content will be evident in the project. Students will use prior knowledge and classroom research to begin creating eBooks. Students will work in pairs to provide oversight and additional help when constructing pages of each book. Upon completion of constructing each content page, students will take pictures of simple machines located around the school. No list will be provided so students will use their research, prior knowledge, and familiarity of the school to find examples. Each group will/may have different examples for each Simple Machine.

Learning requirements Instructor will continue to remind students of the end goal, what the finished product may look like, and allow students to compare their work to others to constantly reflect and improve on their existing work. There are specific steps and goals in this process. Instructor will reinforce completion of each step as it occurs. Instructor will constantly offer positive reinforcement and constructive criticism to ensure student success and achievement. Students have the ability to choose sentence style and pictures on each page as well as the cover design. As students progress through the project, the opportunity exists for group members to add extra information and design that is appropriate to the project and within their skill level.

SATISFACTION S.1. Natural consequences Upon completion of this project, students can use this form of technology in other content areas and classes to analyze, synthesize, create, display, and demonstrate knowledge learned. Instructor will sync all eBooks to all iPads for students within the school to view. Each eBook file will be displayed on the school website for others to view and download to their own mobile device. Students can be asked to assist with eBook creation projects in other classes who may begin this project for the first time. Instructor will provide insight and example into how students are on the cutting edge of technology integration and compare previous projects to the one they just created. This will show advancement in technology proficiency and encourage further integration into other content areas.
