Five Reasons for Google Android Developers to be Cautious !!

In a recent survey on mobile apps development, an interesting trend with Android developers was unveiled. According to it, Android app developers are not as ent husiast about Google s mobile OS as they were in 2011. The drop to 79% developers ke en to work on Android platform still leaves four out of five interested in Googl e OS. However, as per the survey there are early signs which could impact the t rend in the coming years. Now, Google need to address all these issues to prevent the Android OS ecosystem stale. Moreover, the indigenous developers also need to conscious of all the pa in joints in their business plan. Five respective reasons are: 1. All the happening fragments: All varied Android versions in the public hands are in news for quite a long time now. A lot has also been written or how this fragmentation can aim for developers to choose the common denominator (for now it is Android 2.3). Moreover, the fragment issue is not limited to OS only. The SDK tools are also inconsistent. There are six main screen sizes to build for, w ith a mix of aspect ratios, diverse hardware buttons, physical keyboards and no buttons. The developer can either code for all of these together or write multip le versions. The Android fragmentation would be profitable if it generated good results, unfortunately it is not the case. 2. No return on investment: It can be said rule of a thumb that Android apps gen erally earn less money than rival iOS applications. It means that the developers will get less return for all their efforts. When mobile app developers have lim ited resources and time and need to select a platform. In that case, money is im portant not the installed base. 3. High volume of clone apps: Suppose a developer creates an application that ha s the spark to shine out in the app store. And after sometime you see, thousands of developers to turn out clone versions with undercut prices and dominating th e listing for basic search terms. We can say that there is lawless life in Andro id app store which makes promotion of an app such an unfair fight. 4. Market fragmentation to sell apps: There s Google play, Amazon Android store and many other stores where you can place your apps. This is called fragmentation of the market, while it may beneficial in case of device fragmentation. Though, i t means that there will be multiple builds, variants, agreements and headaches t o build up. In contrast, iOS and Windows platform own a singe platform each for their applications. Dealing with all variants may be tackled by the big companie s but small companies may suffer due to difficulty in management if so many acco unts. 5. Dangers of other shiny OS: Windows phones popularity is on the rise. AT&T is launching Window phones Nokia Lumia 900 and HTC Titan 2 in April. Considering al l above stated problems,Android developers may look for alternatives like Micros oft s Windows etc. Though, moving on to the new platform has many queries, what this new SDK environment has to offer. Is it capable enough to sustain in the market . Though, Windows is still new in the market, but if ir provides similar results in fewer efforts and could promise better return in the long terms, then Window s Phones can attract many aspiring developers.
