Im por t ant :The User Manual f or t he My Book World (Whit e Light) incorrect ly st at es that you need t o hold down t he reset butt on f or only 4 seconds t o reset t he device. The correct inf orm at ion (20 seconds) is in the art icle below.

To reset only the Device name, IP Settings, and Administrator Password to factory default, use the reset button. To use this function, press and hold the Reset button on the back of the device (nex t to power interface) for at least 20 seconds. To reset all settings and erase any shares/ data on the device, please perform a Rest ore Fact ory Def ault . Performing a Restore Factory Default will erase all settings in the network storage system. System configuration will reset the device to default factory settings. All information and data will be lost. The LAN settings (including port settings) are not changed. After the reset, the administrator login/ password will be changed to adm in/ adm in. To st art t he Rest ore Fact ory Def ault you m ust first access t he Net work St orage Manager int erf ace:

WD recom m ends saving the current conf igurat ion prior t o rest oring t he f act ory def ault set t ings. Mac Users should skip st eps 2 and 3. You can access your drive's login from the Web sit e sect ion of Bonjour . Im por t an t : Windows users will need to install WD Link t o follow t hese instruct ions. 1. Ensure that the device is powered on and connected to the network. 2. If WD Link is not running, click St art then All Program s (Just Program s on Windows XP). 3. Click on WD Link then launch the WD Link application. 4. Click on the drive that is going to be reset in the Devices Found list. 5. Click on the Conf igure button. 6. The Login page appears. Type in the Adm inist rat or Nam e and Password and click on Login. 7. In the Net work St orage Manager list, click on Advanced Mode in the upper right corner. 8. Then click on the Rest ore Conf igurat ion button. 9. At the bottom of the page, click on Fact ory Default Rest ore. 10. Click OK. During the system restore process, the system will turn off power LED and blink backup LED. Wait until the system restore process is completed.
