Personality Analysis Overall assignment This assignment will be a 7-8 page paper in which you describe 3 characters from

a television show, analyze these characters from the perspective of 3 of the theories we have covered in this course, and present your opinion about how well these theories explain the characters. Your papers should be organized. Have an introduction, main body and conclusion. Main body of paper should be organized with headings and subheadings. Watch for grammatical errors, particularly sentence fragments and run-on sentences. Spelling or grammatical errors will result in points deducted from final grades. You need to cite 2 sources for each theory. One will be our text, Burger (2008); the other you need to find. It should be reputable. For example, websites like Wikipedia are not acceptable. BE SURE TO USE YOUR OWN WORDS. Plagiarism is using words from another source in your paper without putting them in quotation marks. But, keep in mind that you should make minimal use of quotes. Plagiarism is a form of academic dishonesty and there are serious consequences (a failing grade on the paper or course, and reporting of the incident). Review the relevant sections of the Student Code of Conduct. The point of the paper is to express your understanding of these concepts. So it is important that you use your own words. Content Description. These parts should be a strictly descriptive, without any interpretation. Describe the characters personality characteristics. And use actual dialog and behavior from various episodes to support your claims. Analysis. After describing the character, provide an explanation for these characteristics using each of the 3 theories you are reviewing. The 3 theories should be from different perspectives. For example, do not choose Adler, Jung, and Erikson. You should be explaining the persons behavior, answering the question why is this person like this, according to this theory? Be sure to explain any inconsistencies in behavior or in explanations of behavior. Dont simply take each section of a theory and apply it. For example, dont just say these characteristics would indicate fixation in the oral stage; these characteristics would indicate fixation in the phallic stage; these defense mechanisms are used. Instead, integrate these parts: There is evidence that some traumatic event may have occurred during the oral stage(provide evidence). These unresolved conflicts lead to an excess of unacceptable id impulses, requiring the use of many defense mechanisms. Also, this fixation may have led to subsequent developmental difficulties. For instance in the phallic stage.Dont use that example verbatim. It is just to give you an idea of how to integrate different parts of the theory.

Opinion. State your opinions and the reasons behind them. This is your opportunity to have a voice - there are no wrong opinions.
