India is scheduled to compete at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London,United Kingdom from 27 July to 12 August 2012. Indian government has allocated a sum of Rs 60.85 million to train 22 sports persons of different individual disciplines to ensure that India is able to get maximum possible medals in this event. [1] Ajit Pal Singh has been named thechef de mission by the IOA on 2 April 2012.[2]

Main article: Field hockey at the 2012 Summer Olympics The India national field hockey team on 26 February 2012, qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics after winning a qualifying tournament against France with a score of 8 1.[6] India stands in Pool B of the men's competion.
