Concept covered in this module will perform the contextual learning processes by using electrical and electronics theories and practices. It is expected that upon successful completion of the course, students will: Understand the electrical and safety regulation.

Understand the basic theories of single phase and three phase electrical system. Be able to trouble shoot or faultfinding some minor electrical problem. Be able to assess the performance of battery.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY AND REGULATION. 1.1 Study of Electricity Rules and Electrical Safety measures and shock treatment including first aid.

ELECTRICAL TEST EQUIPMENT 2.1 Identification and familiarization with the following electrical / electronic instruments: Task 1: - Perform basic measurement by using electronic instrument mention above such as measuring voltage, current, power and resistance. - Perform basic electrical testing such as continuity testing, polarity Multimeter Analog Multimeter digital Clamp Meter Wee Megger (Insulation Tester)

testing and insulation testing. 2.2 Identification and familiarization with commonly used tools: statement of their uses. Some small practical exercises on measurement terminals. Identification of other components including LED, Coils, relays, switches (SPDT, DPDT, etc.) connectors, etc.

Task 3: Charging a battery and testing it with the help of hydrometers and cell testers. - Installation of battery connections in series and parallel

SINGLE PHASE ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION 4.1 Study, demonstration and identification of common electrical materials such as wires, cables, switches, fuses, ceiling roses, battens, cleats and allied items, tools and accessories. 4.2 Study of electrical safety measures and demonstration about use of protective devices. Task 4 - Identification of phase, neutral and earth of domestic appliances and their connection to two pin/three pin, plugs. Task 5 - Laying out a complete electrical wiring 4.3 4.4 Study of common electrical appliances such as electric irons, electric kettles, electric water heaters, table fans and electric mixer. Demonstration of dismantling, servicing and reassembling a table fan/ceiling fan/air cooler/mixer/electric iron, Electric heater, and electric oven.
