TAKE BACK DAY- The Rensselaer County Sheriffs Office will participate in the Drug Enforcement Administrations National Take Back Day on Saturday April 28, 2012 from 10am to 2pm at the West Sand Lake Fire Company 3697 on Route 43. The Program was created by the DEA for the purpose of providing a safe means for the public to dispose of their unused, unwanted or expired prescription drugs. The safe disposal of unwanted medications reduces the risk of prescription drug abuse and the risk of accidental overdose by small children or others who mistake them for other medications. The drop off site will accept all medications including liquids in a sealed container. The public may remove the labels from the bottles if they choose or dump the pills into a collection box. No needles will be accepted. All medications collected will be turned over to the DEA for destruction. The public is encouraged to participate in this event and drop off their medications on Saturday April 28th at the West Sand Lake Fire House.
