II. Methods The methods used to collect data for the construction of the Career and Educational Assessment and Resource Center Analysis Report were interviews (Appendix A) with the test centers Administrator and a checklist (Appendix B), which was used during the operation of a test and resource session. During the interview with the testing administrator, various questions were asked to learn the history and the purpose of the center.

A checklist was used during three separate testing sessions and two after school Career and Education Technology teacher meetings.

III. Center Context and Goals The Career and Educational Technical Assessment Center has been open since August 2011. The center is an Authorized Prometric Test Center (APTC). The center administers Microsoft and various exams under Prometric testing. The center is available to Duval County high schools student who are participants of the Microsoft IT Career Academy may take the Microsoft Exams at this center. Originally, the building was a middle school site before turning in to a center. Along with the center other district department are housed there, such as the Duval Virtual Instruction Academy, Multiple Pathways Department that specializes in over aged students. A local college, Edward Waters College, also holds classes in the building. The mission of the center is to provide the opportunities for all students to learn through the integration of academic content and career and technical skills to become life-long learners, employable, productive citizens who can adapt to a rapidly changing and highly technological global community. The goal of the center is to prepare and provide students with the opportunity to take Industry Certification assessments while still in high school, enabling them to enter the workforce upon graduation. The stakeholders of the Career and Educational Technical Assessment Center are state education department, district school board members, principals, teachers, students and parents. The state education department is the funding source of materials, equipment and vouchers that are provided to the center. The district school board members are interested in the well being of the students. Principals and teachers are interesting in the achievement of certification for students to enter the workforce prepared. Key personnel for the Career and Educational Technical Assessment Center are the Supervisor of Career and Educational Tech Department of Duval County Schools and the APTC Testing Administrator. The APTC testing administrator is responsible for student registration and scheduling of testing. The testing administrator is available throughout the time a student is testing. As of October 2011, the center began administering Microsoft and other exams for Prometric testing.

IV. Center Activities The Career and Educational Technical Assessment Center, a private testing facility, allows students who are enrolled in Career and Ed Tech courses at the local high school

to take Industrial certifications. To receive certification for the course, students must take a required certification exam. After passing the exam, students will be certified in the tested Industrial area. Students register online or contact the sites testing administrator to take the certification exams. Once students are registered, they will receive a date and time to report to the center. If a group of students from a school are registered for the exam, a district school bus will provided transportation to the center and back to the school. Students can also use their own transportation to the center. Teachers are allowed to utilize the center during and after the school day for various reasons. The Career and Technical Education Department hold meetings for Career and Technical Educations teachers to review books or any upcoming curriculum changes. The center houses all textbooks and materials that are used in the classroom for teachers to review or check out. One room in the center is equipped with the lasted technology equipment for a classroom that includes an interactive Smartboard, digital projectors and document cameras. If teachers need to practice or what to learn more about technology, they are able to use the center for those needs. V. Evaluation After many visits to the center, Duval County Schools has a great resource. The students have a great opportunity that is available at their fingertips and all for free. In the past, the students had to take their test at local colleges, which they had to coordinate their time with theirs. Having the center at the school district with open hours just for their needs allows the students to take more tests without having to wait on other resources that may use a building. Recommendations for the center would be to have students and teachers to complete a questionnaire. Having feed back from students on their registration experience and testing experience will give the center the opportunity to make improvements on service and the friendliness of equipment. If possible, for students that may not be able to test during the schools day, to give them an option of Saturday testing twice a week. In conclusion of this evaluation for Career and Technical Education Assessment and Resource Center, although the center is new, the number of student enrolled will increase as the program grows. VI.
