OCV non-wovens are made from randomly dispersed glass fibers, wet or dry laid, and bonded into

a thin sheet. Also known as veil and mat, glass-based non-wovens have many benefits for manufacturers and end-users, such as their dimensional stability and tear strength, and the fact that glass fibers do not absorb moisture or support mold and mildew growth. In the building industry the products are used to reinforce faced acoustical ceiling panels, flooring, insulation, gypsum and exterior materials. The automotive industry uses veils in batteries and headliners. In composite molding, veils are used to reinforce gel-coated surfaces and provide a smooth, resin-rich surface.

These facings are tailor made to fit our customer's processes and market offerings. Insulation faced with glass non-wovens offers improved tensile strength, comfort during handling, aesthetics and contributes to the fire retardant properties of the product. In some applications such as duct board or duct liner, we also produce a high quality black colored non-woven which helps to conceal the fibers in the board and liner. For rigid and foamed insulation boards made with phenol, polyurethane (PUR/PIR) and polystyrene, we have developed a series of glass non-wovens, meeting the highest requirements of the market. Our products help to reinforce rigid insulation by improving the dimensional stability of the boards up to the highest thickness. From their initial introduction as a technical solution for reinforcing mineral walls, glass non-wovens have grown to a modern and fashionable wall covering material. In their introduction into the wall covering market, the use of glass tissues was mainly driven by their capability to reinforce mineral walls, to cover cracks in the plaster layer, or to limit the development of cracks. Electronic printed circuit boards based on CEM3 laminates provide a major market for wet formed mat (veil). It offers better dimensional stability than phenolic paper base laminates and lower processing costs than circuit boards reinforced with woven glass fabric. Wet formed mats are available in various weights and widths to suit all the manufacturing processes and are compatible with epoxy resin systems. Car Headliners: Headliners used in automobiles for aesthetics and acoustical/thermal insulation use glass fiber reinforcement to provide dimensional stability and rigidity.

Surfacing veils strengthen the resin-rich gel coat surface of glass fiber reinforced plastic components, creating a strong bond with the underlying laminate and enhancing surface appearance by masking the reinforcing fiber pattern.

Surfacing veils: Surfacing veils also isolate the substrate fibers from exposure to corrosion, abrasion and moisture, contributing to the structural integrity of the total composite. Pultrusion: Pultrusion is a continuous process for making lightweight lineal profiles such as reinforcing rods, I-beams and tubing. Pultruded parts incorporate a variety of reinforcements ranging from direct, single-end roving and bulky roving to surfacing veils, continuous filament mat and fabrics. After the reinforcement is impregnated with resin, the material is pulled through a heated die that gives it a cross-sectional shape. The profile is then cured to create the composite part. Filament winding: OCV Non-Woven Technologies provides a wide variety of veils for filament winding. The mandrel can be covered with a veil for an inner/exterior corrosion resistant and/or aesthetic surface.
