Dont leave valuables in your car
HESWALL police believe that the warm weather has brought with it a rise in anti social
behaviour and car crime.
Local police chief Inspector Mick Blease said: We have many beauty spots along
the west coast of Wirral that attract visitors from a far. Owners are constantly leaving
personal belongings on display such as handbags or remove the same and place in
the boot, which may be witnessed by the potential offender. The message is simple,
remove anything from display that may be a target and take it with you.
Anti-social behaviour problem
POLICE have tackled anti-social-behaviour on Pensby Road, at its junction with Ashley
Road, by providing a highly visible presence during peak times.
Point of View
Please note that Heswall is on the Dee Estuary, in Cheshire, and isnt in or on
Merseyside. This very unattractive 1974 creation was abolished a few years
ago, and because of Wirrals CH postcode its traditional county of Cheshire can
be used again. The traditional counties are part of Britains heritage and must be
used at all times. I am very much a traditionalist as regards counties!

round Britain cycle ride exploring the nations
coastline in a 5,000 mile bike ride. You can read
more about Paddys mission to raise funds for the

Paddy Hehir has set
off on a 5,000-mile
bike ride around the
British coastline in
aid of the alzheimers
society.
He is cycling
unsupported around
the whole coastline
of the mainland -
England,Wales and
Scotland (with a few
Scottish islands thrown
in for good measure.)
If he lasts the course
he will cover approx.
5000 miles over circa
3 and a half months,
equivalent to cycling
from Liverpool to
Calcutta). He hopes to
average over 50 miles
a day - in all weather
and over all terrains
- travelling clockwise
with the prevailing
SW winds. He will be
recording his exploits
with a photographic
blog - capturing the
places he visits and the
people he meets en
route.
Paddy is carrying all his own gear
including a tent, sleeping bag, cooking
equipment, cycle spares, clothing etc but
will not finch from using B&Bs and YHAs
should the need arise!
Sabbatical
While this is a personal challenge - made
possible by taking a 12 month sabbatical
from work Paddy is raising funds for
the Alzheimers Society in memory of
his mum, Pat Hehir, who suffered from
a long, slow decline and eventual death
from dementia a few years ago .
All monies raised will be used by the
society to support people to live with
dementia today to hopefully fnd a cure for
tomorrow.

for 2012 Sandra Morris at their
recent AGM dinner. Sandra was
born in Wallasey and qualifed as
a Teacher in Hereford.
As a member of the Inner Wheel
Club and soon to be Chair of
Wirral Fund for Children with
special needs Sandra is in for a
very busy year.
The care of the elderly is of
special concern for her so has
chosen to support Hoylake
Cottage for her main charity
during her year in offce.
Her International charity is
Shelter box which supports

The club meets twice monthly at the
Grange, Thornton Hough and have

Bowling season
rolls into action
GAYton Probus chairman John
Quinn opened the bowling season
at Heswall Bowling Green last
month.
It wasnt the best day, with the
weather cold and miserable.
Nevertheless there was a much
appreciated show of support and
the chairman started the season
with the traditional Roll off.
The group has a list of activities
including table tennis, bridge,
bowls, quiz evenings at the Black
Bull, theatre outings, etc to name
but a few.
Meetings take place every Tuesday morning at Richmond Hall 9am to 12 noon
followed by a Luncheon Meeting on the frst Monday of every month at the Grange.

A GROUP of tenants in
Heswall have spruced up
their homes and improved
security at the same time.
Wirral Partnership Homes
(WPH) provided 300 to
buy plants and gardening
equipment. This
brightened up a corner
of their communal land
and increased security by
helping to prevent people
climbing over the fence
and using the gardens as
a short cut.
In addition, WPH estate
management team and
tenants were helped by
Sodexo, the company that
provides horticultural and
grounds maintenance for
WPH developments, who
supplied labour free of
charge.
Tenants were invited
along and were keen to
join in the tidy up and
planting out of the borders.
WPH tenant Michael Ryan
said: This is tremendous,
the border is now pleasing
on the eye and has been
planted out properly. It will
also act as a deterrent to
stop people jumping over
the fence to cut through
from the land behind.
So far this fnancial
year WPH has given
over 24,000 in one-
off Community Grants
ranging from a small
amount of 150 for a
bonfre night party to help
prevent children becoming
involved in anti-social
activities to an application
in excess of 5,000 from
a fund which is managed
as an annual budget of
30,000.

Q We have decided to install a new en suite and would

fund raising success in the London Moonwalk
while also enjoying a girly weekend away in
the capital. Trainers and wildly decorated bras
are in, high heels and designer labels are out!

extremely well-received production of Whose
Life Is It Anyway, commented, Cheshire Cats
is an affectionate, comic tribute to all those
who participate in, organise and get involved
in any way to charity walking events world-
wide it is especially relevant this year with
2012 being the 15th anniversary of the frst
Moonwalk.

they have shared with others dur-

charitable organisations in the fght
against cancer nationally, Cancer

Clatterbridge Hospital, Oncology

requirements and what they wanted from their
individual kitchens allows them to design and
supply their dream kitchen at a competitive and

From the design studio which houses unique dis-
plays from traditional to modern, customers can
view a wide selection of door, worktop and handle
designs and the latest in space-saving units.
Contemporary Kitchens can also supply a wide
range of quality appliances again at competitive
prices. We also offer a door and worktop replace-
ment service for those not wishing the distress or
expense of a complete makeover.
From your frst visit to the relaxed studio
environment you will not be hassled as you view
the displays and should you decide to ask for a
free survey of your existing kitchen then this will

Your design will then be created using the latest

Hockey Club, have
enjoyed another
successful season,
with the various junior
teams and ladies frst
team taking most of the
plaudits.
Only promoted from
Cheshire Division Two last
season, most expected the
ladies team to struggle
at a higher level, but in
the end they stormed to a
second successive league
title, and thus secured
a return to the North
Leagues after an eight
year absence.
Buoyed by the return of
club vice-captain Cat Peers
from maternity leave, and
one-time star junior Emma
Nokes, the girls set the
tone for the season, with
an opening day 11-0 win
over Whitchurch. The
arrival of experienced
coach Ben Hodkinson
saw a ftter, stronger and
more confdent side rack
up several more emphatic
victories, including
two more double fgure
victories.
Captain Lisa Morris
stepped down at
Christmas, with new co-
captains Nokes and Sarah
Fearnley ably guiding
the team through the
remainder of the season.
Goals from veterans Sally
Bell and Kerry Cowley
coupled with sterling
defensive work by Hannah
Newall, Lorien Waterer
and Paula Goudie resulted
in an remarkable goal
difference of 67, and 15
victories, three draws
and just two defeats saw
Neston win their second
successive championship
by a comfortable nine-point
cushion.
The ladies play in North
Division Two West next
year, and with long-time
squad members Louise
Alford-Swift and Suzy Twist
due to return from their
pregnancy breaks, Neston
are feeling confdent of
their chances.
Elsewhere, the boys
under 16 side had a
great season, qualifying for
the National Finals after
winning events at both
County and Regional level.
Unfortunately they found
the going too tough in the
tournament at Cannock
Hockey Club, but can
be proud of their efforts
as they faced several
schoolboy internationals in
the opposing ranks. Three
of Nestons team - Luke
Davies-Foo, Johnny Lord
and Joel Hennel-Nealey
- all made their mens
frst team debuts during
the season, showing the
talent in the club, whilst
defender Andy Heaths
performances at Cannock
marked him out as one for
the future.
Meanwhile the beavers
team, made up of under
14s, enjoyed even
better fortunes under the
management of Kenny
Gardiner, as they went
through the season with a
22 game winning run. In
the process they scored
an incredible 221 goals,
and such are Kennys
high standards hell be
disappointed that they
conceded 28!. Whilst not
quite reaching the same
heights, Nestons other
teams all had satisfactory
seasons, and most will
be enjoying a well earned
break before the summer
league hockey starts at
Parkgate in May.
