Participants are International. Number of participants 15 Open for participation Open participation for any laboratory. Mandatory participation Participation is voluntary for all laboratories.

PT scheme documentation and quality management

Quality management system (QMS) The QMS for the operation of the proficiency testing scheme is based on ISO/IEC 17025 / ...iso 17043 and completely fulfills the requirements of ISO/IEC Guide 43. Standard operating procedures (SOP) / working instructions (WI) A complete description of the operation of the PTS is available. Information material Information material describing the profiency testing scheme, its aim and operation is available for interested parties. Advisory / steering group An advisory / steering group is involved in matters concerning the supervision and operation of the profiency testing scheme. Complaints A documented procedure for the handling of complaints is available. Confidentiality of results Is guaranteed.The results of particular laboratories are communicated to a third party (e.g. recognition authority or accreditation body).This is done with prior agreement of the laboratories.

Analysis of the testing results and assessment of the laboratories

Statistical analysis of the results Performed according to a statistical procedure elaborated by the provider. Handling of outliers The influence of outliers is minimised by: test of cochram and groups Performance assessment Participants are assessed on the basis of their results in each round of the PTS separately. The rating is based on deviation from the assigned values (trueness). Criteria for successful participation are based on limits laid down by law. Numerical rankings Z-scores are used as statistical criteria in the assessment of the laboratories. The performance is questionable if 2<|z|<=3 and satisfactory, if |z|<=2
