Processor
Precaution: . Ensure there is no power source connected to the notebook. 2. Take the necessary steps to minimize risk of electrostatic discharge (ESD). 3. Remove the battery pack. (see Fig. 1) Removing the Thermal Solution: . Remove main panel located on underside of notebook. Five screws hold the panel in place. (see Fig. 2) 2. Disconnect thermal solution fan cable from the motherboard. 3. Remove two screws that hold the fan in place. (see Fig. 3 Yellow) 4. Gently lift the edge of fan where the screw holes are located upward at a slight angle before pulling it out. 5. Remove the six screws holding the thermal solution in place. (see Fig. 3 Blue) 6. Note that these screws are larger than the two screws that held the fan in place. 7. Gently slide the thermal solution away from the edge of the notebook while lifting at a slight angle. Installing the Processor: . When installing a processor be sure to align pin one of the processor with pin one on the processor socket. (see Fig. 4) 2. Once the processor is properly in place, turn the retention screw 80 degrees clockwise to secure. The orientation of the arrow on the processor socket retention screw, when in the locked position, may vary by model. 3. Also, check to ensure that the thermal interface material (TIM) is adequately applied to the processor and is not damaged. Reapply TIM if necessary.
Memory
Precaution: . Ensure there is no power source connected to the notebook. 2. Take the necessary steps to minimize risk of electrostatic discharge (ESD). 3. Remove the battery pack. Installing the Memory Module: . Remove main panel located on underside of notebook. Five screws hold the panel in place. (see Fig. 6) 2. Insert module into socket at a slight angle and ensure that the module is properly seated in socket. (see Fig. 7) NOTE: Memory modules typically have a notch on the pin edge of the card. This notch must align with the memory socket for proper installation. 3. Gently press down on both sides of the module so that it is parallel with socket. The retention clips should slide into place and secure the memory module. Removing the Memory Module: . Gently press down and slightly outward on the socket retention clips at the same time. This will release the memory module upward. 2. Remove the memory module from the socket at a slight angle. (see Fig. 8)
Wireless Adapter
Precaution: . Ensure there is no power source connected to the notebook. 2. Take the necessary steps to minimize risk of electrostatic discharge (ESD). 3. Remove the battery pack. Installing the Wireless Adapter: . Remove main panel located on underside of notebook. Five screws hold the panel in place. (see Fig. 12)
Keyboard
Precaution: . Ensure there is no power source connected to the notebook. 2. Take the necessary steps to minimize risk of electrostatic discharge (ESD). 3. Remove the battery pack. Installing the Keyboard: . Remove panel above keyboard area, if installed, by gently prying retention latches away from each hinge and lifting at a slight angle. (see Fig. 15) 2. Locate the keyboard ribbon cable connector. There is typically a black section and a white section at the end of the connector. 3. The black section of the connector will pivot much like a hinge in an upward direction so that it is perpendicular to the white section. This will open the connectors socket. (see Fig. 16) 4. Place the keyboard up-side-down of the top of the notebook surface and insert the keyboard FPC ribbon cable into the open connector. 5. Secure the cable by pivoting the black section of the connector downward so that it is aligned horizontally with the white section.
