BEHAVIORAL-BASED QUESTIONS and ANSWERS 1) Describe a difficult problem that you tried to solve.

How did you identify the problem? How did you go about trying to solve it? (Demonstrates problem solving) One problem occurred while implementing Daimler/Freightliner customers inbound EDI 866, Production Sequence, data that conveyed their daily detailed wiring harness components requirements by sequence and vehicle number. Gentran translated the EDI 866 and mapped data into Oracles e-Commerce Gateway PSQI, interface file to load requirements into Release Management and Order Management. The problem was triggered when the EDI 866 LIN segment loop included a QTY segment with a quantity for component other than the DTM segment date default quantity of 1. The problem was identified when the Order Line quantity for a components date sequence and VIN didnt match Customers 866 schedule for given date. After reviewing GIS map and Oracle PSQI interface map, the Gentran map was adjusted to write additional PSQI date record with LIN loop QTY segment value. This resulted in the correct quantity for component. Another problem occurred while implementing new Paccar NGP EDI 862 which would convey the Paccar configuration parent part rather than the components requirements by sequence and vehicle number. The problem was that Paccar wanted to put configuration file (BOM parent and components) on an FTP site to be picked up by Gentran and used when Gentran translated the EDI 862 to lookup the parent in the new configuration file and the write the BOM components records to Oracles e-Commerce Gateway SSSI, interface file to load requirements into Release Management and Order Management. The solution to the problem required creating a new GIS Business Process using FTP adaptor with CD service and GET service and then modify existing Business Process, as well as, changes to Paccar 862 map to conditionally read configuration file. This solution provided trading partner benefits along with design engineering and manufacturing improvements.

2) Describe a time when you tried to persuade another person to do something that they were not very willing to do. (Demonstrates leadership) The time during a project to create Oracle reports for a manufacturing plants customer orders that would replace external Microsoft Access database reports. The shipping person, Alejandro, wasnt able to perform timely testing of new reports with existing workload. I explained importance of his feedback on reports and complimented his team for their effort to improve shipping process.

3) Describe a time when you decided on your own that something needed to be done, and you took on the task to get it done. (Demonstrates initiative) Time when the company switched logistics handler from Penske to Menlo for shipping customer orders. After changing warehouse ORG on orders for shipping, the resulting ASNs/856s were failing with incorrect TD5 ship method and transportation mode derived from Freight Carrier for warehouse ORG. Another time was with Oracle Demand Processor generating RLM Demand Management Exceptions that were over loading customer service representatives that had to resolve exceptions for Oracle workflow. By using report parameter, Exception Category, the number of exceptions was reduced and easier to resolve.

4) Give me an example of a time when you set a goal and were able to meet or achieve it.

In my Venchurs engagement, a goal was set to develop the logistics business for Akebono (brakes) companys EDI and non-EDI trading partners. Develop EDI TPs (Ford, Nissan, GM, GMAME, Toyota, Dana light Axle) GIS 830 and 862 maps outputting to Progress database tables using JDBC adaptor and custom Business Processes. Then create Progress 4GL programs to load inbound 830 and/or 862 tables to customer orders and/or forecast orders and to create Progress 4GL programs to load shipping outbound 856 table for Gentran to send ASN. Developing new trading partner procedure steps, Review TP guidelines and determine EDI inbound and outbound transactions and shipping issues Weekly status meeting to discuss and prioritize Akebono trading partners progress and issues Coordinate EDI startup with trading partners and Venchurs team to prepare for TPs EDI go-live. Perform GAP analysis for trading partners inbound and outbound EDI transactions Work with order and shipping group to test inbound order loading and shipper creation Go-Live for each TP and support daily EDI for inbound and outbound EDI + shadow to Akebono

In my AEES engagement, a goal was set to transfer an external Microsoft Access database used to generate formatted sequential file for Vastera-Prisma Import/Export paperwork for parts from Acuna and Torreon Mexico facilities to Oracle database to generate formatted sequential file. Created Oracle concurrent programs for Import Export VIN BOM and Import Export VIN Item with unix script to FTP file to Vastera server. Perform testing with users and progress through DEV instance, TST instance, and PRD instance Change Board procedures.
