Whats New..Products

Over the last 50 years, Whr has provided over 300,000 parking spaces for projects across Europe, Asia, Australia and America.
From the companys original double-stacking systems, our range has now grown to include Parklift two and three level systems, Combilift semi-automatics, lateral and longitudinal sliding platforms and our state of the art, fully automatic systems. Our ongoing investment in product development has led to a number of recent product launches, including the Parklift 421 three level dependent stacking system and Combilift 553 and 554 semi automatic systems with 3 or 4 levels both feature in this brochure. Also showcased are a number of completed projects which demonstrate the benefits of mechanical parking systems in brownfield developments not least their ability to significantly increase parking densities whilst reducing both construction and landfill costs. For more details about any of the systems, projects or support material, please contact our technical team on 01993 851 791 or visit www.wohr-parking.co.uk.

New Combilift 553 & 554

3 & 4 Level Semi-Automatic Systems
Two new systems deliver the option of 3 and 4 level independent parking, without the need to construct pits.
These systems, with independent access to all spaces, do not require the services of a valet parking attendant. Previously the Combilift 551 provided only 2 levels of parking. Now, with four levels of parking and by using a combination of lift and slide technology, Combilift 554 creates nearly 3 times more spaces than could be conventionally achieved. The units are available with a range of height (up to 2.1m), width (up to 2.7m) and weight (up to 2.6t) options. Datasheets are available for these new models. You can also view the operation of Combilifts at www.wohr-parking.co.uk.

Combilift 553

New Parklift 421 3 Level Dependent Stacking System

The new Parklift 421 is a 3 level, vertical stacking system that does not require pits and so is suitable for retro-fittingfor example in courtyards.
With a wide range of height, width and weight options, Parklift 421 provides dependent parking for vehicles up to 2.6 tonnes (therefore accommodating most modern SUVs and 4x4s). A high density, dependent system, Parklift 421 is ideally suited for public parking areas where attendant or valet support is provided for example offices, airports and other car storage applications. A datasheet for the Parklift 421 is now available.

New Features for Combilift Range

Control Panel
For extra user convenience, all Combilift units now have keypad operation, replacing the coded key function that has previously been utilised. The new control panels are easier to use, eliminate the risk from lost or stolen keys, reduce risk of breakages and provide a more efficient system for users.

Increased range of door options

The range of Combilift door options has also been extended, with two new variants now available. In areas where increased security is required, high strength pressed steel doors are now available. Alternatively, open mesh doors may still be specified where required.

Extended range of size and weight options

Our complete ranges of Parklift Vertical Stacking Systems and Combilift Semi-Automatic Systems are now available in an extended range of size and weight optionsto suit all applications and the vast majority of vehicle types.

Weight Options up to 2.6 tonnes

All Parklifts and Combilifts are now available in an extended range of weight options including 2.0 tonne and 2.6 tonne. Special versions of Parklift 440 are available with a 3.2 tonne capacityfor example, for Maybach and Rolls-Royce cars.

Platform Widths up to 2.7m

In addition, the ranges feature extensive height and width options, allowing each specification to be tailored to meet the precise needs of individual projects. All Parklift and Combilift systems are available with platform widths up to 2.7m. With special options also available (for example for disabled access, which requires platform widths of 3.5m) the range includes a solution for all parking requirements.

New Datasheets
New datasheets have been revised and reprinted.
New datasheets are now available for our newest models, together with updates to include the latest weight, height and platform width options for our complete range. For a complete set of our latest technical literature, call 01993 851 791 or visit www.wohr-parking.co.uk for downloads.

Project Client Architect Contractor Whr System Unity Street, Bristol Carrot Limited Charter Consultant Architects Urban Construction Management Combilift 551

This residential project has created 49 contemporary apartments in a building originally built in 1865. The developer required an independent parking solution to increase the number of spaces that could be offered to potential buyers. Due to structural constraints, no pits could be excavated but some additional headroom was available. The structural steel grid of the parking system effectively sits behind the large brick pillars in the basement parking area. Utilising a Combilift 551 (2 level) semi automatic system, an additional 24 parking spaces have been provided (only 9 could be created conventionally), making full use of the available space and headroom. Combilifts utilise lateral sliding and vertical stacking technologies.

Avenue Rd, St Johns Wood Wolff Architects Rackham Construction Parklift 461

Working closely with the developer, Whr supplied a fully automatic parking system for this 1858 buildingretaining the existing front faade whilst the internal building structure was completely rebuilt. The solution delivers a completely modern parking solution with 84 spaces provided over 10 levels of parking. The above ground tower system slotted into a narrow gap between buildings. Utilising a very narrow access aisle, the drivethrough system incorporates separate entry and exit garages. Users simply leave and collect their vehicles from a transfer point, with all parking and retrieval carried out automatically by the Parksafe system.

The owners of a private house in central London wanted to increase their parking provision within the property boundariesrather than leaving vehicles on the road. Given the particularly narrow courtyard, a Whr 461 unit was installed; effectively allowing two cars to be parked in the footprint of just a single vehicle. The upper level of the unit may be completed in materials to blend with adjacent landscapingblock paving, grass etc, and can then be parked on.

Other options are available for 2 or 3 levels of parking below ground (Parklift 462 and 463).

Water Gardens, Canada Water, Rotherhithe George Wimpey City Broadway Malyan Laing ORourke Parklift 440

In this new waterfront development, site conditions prevented the provision of multi levels of basement parking. A high water table meant that the required depth of excavation would be prohibitive. 3 levels of conventional basement would have been necessary to provide sufficient parkingtaking into consideration the need to provide driving ramps, which would potentially take up important parking area. Whr Parklift 440 vertical stacking systems (2 levels) provide 130 spaces from one basement level. All spaces have independent access, with the clear headroom required above the driving aisle only 3.25m and a pit depth of 1.7m. This solution not only delivers the required number of spaces, but also significantly reduces both the costs of construction and landfill.

This stunning mixed use development in the heart of Birmingham required a fully automatic solution to provide 55 parking spaces for the owners of apartments situated above the Radisson Hotel. With narrow and limited site access, a Multiparker 740 system with 5 levels of parking below ground was specified, providing 48 spaces for vehicles up to 1.6m and an additional 7 for vehicles up to 2.0m high. A single garage used to enter and exit the system also incorporates a turning device so vehicles are correctly positioned when exiting on to the main street close to the Holloway Circus roundabout. Conventional multi-storey parking solutions would have required at least twice the volume to deliver the same number of parking spaces.

RIBA CPD Online Seminar

Whr has now joined the RIBA CPD Providers Network and launched an Online CPD seminar. Providing a comprehensive introduction to mechanical car parking, the seminar gives an overview of the different system types available and their respective benefits, as well as a general introduction to some key design considerations.
With an increasing need for parking provision to be addressed at the early stages of the design process, the seminar helps identify which particular system is most appropriate for specific projects, outlining key questions that need to be considered. The seminar is available online at www.ribaonlinecpd.com.
