The Red Hat Enterprise Linux Development (RHD251) course rapidly trains programmers to develop application programs on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Topics include Linux software development tools such as the GNU Compiler Collection (GCC), Make, and the GDB debugger. Students also learn how to use library functions and system calls to perform I/O, memory management, process creation, and interprocess communication including network programming with sockets.
RHD251
The Red Hat Enterprise Linux Kernel Internals (RHD361) course provides experienced developers an intensive, low-level examination of the Linux kernel architecture. Topics include kernel compilation, debugging tools and techniques, and internal kernel APIs, including synchronization, process management, and memory management. These topics provide a solid understanding of the kernels architecture, giving a useful baseline from which more specialized topics taught in other courses, such as device drivers or performance-tuning, can be addressed.
RHD361
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Kernel Device Drivers (RHD362) teaches experienced C programmers already familiar with the Linux kernel architecture the skills and strategies they need to develop device drivers. The course covers device driver models (including character, block, and network device drivers); device interaction (including port I/O, memory mapped I/O, interrupt handling, and DMA transfers); managing PCI and USB devices; strategies for deferring activity using tasklets and work queues; device registration using the Unified Device model and the sysfs file system; and process interaction, including basic file operations, polling, and wait queues.
