A Study of The Awareness of Teacher Effectiveness of Teacher Trainees of North Gujarat

The Purpose of this research was to study the awareness of teacher effectiveness of teacher trainees of North Gujarat. Survey method was used. There is a self-constructed tool, which consist of forty-five statements. They are concerned with eleven different sections namely, 1) Information Source 2) Motivator 3) Disciplinarian 4) Advisor and Guide 5) Relationship with pupils, fellow teachers, Principals and Parents 6) Teaching skills 7) Co-Curricular activities 8) Professional Knowledge 9) General appearance and habits in relation to class room 10) Class room management 11) Personality Characteristics. The data was collected from the teacher trainees. The data was analyzed keeping the following variables in views: - Gender of teacher trainees - Area of teacher trainees - Faculty of teacher trainees.

Introduction: Now the country is going on the path of Modernization on the base of Education. We know that in the process of Education the one end of teacher plays an important role. It is necessary that the teacher must possess some Educational skills , have the basic knowledge of psychology , personality characteristics, be a Motivator etc. According to this structure, Education should given in the teacher training colleges. So it is necessary to know the status of awareness of teacher effectiveness of teacher trainees. In this small research we would try to find out the awareness of teacher effectiveness of teacher trainees with respect to some variables. If we concentrate on the result and than applying the proper treatment via syllabus of the teacher training colleges , we sure success to improve the Quality of education. Objectives : The main objective was to survey the awareness of teacher effectiveness of teacher trainees of north Gujarat. The specific objectives were: 1) To study the difference in an awareness of teacher effectiveness between male and female teacher train ees of north Gujarat 2) To study the difference in an awareness of teacher effectiveness between the rural and urban teacher trainees of north Gujarat. 3) To study the difference in an awareness of teacher effectiveness between the Science and Arts teacher trainees of north Gujarat. Hypothesis: 1) There is no significant difference in the mean score of awareness of teacher effectiveness between male and female teacher trainees of north Gujarat 2) There is no significant difference in the mean score of awareness of teacher effectiveness between rural

and urban teacher trainees of north Gujarat 3) There is no significant difference in the mean score of awareness of teacher effectiveness between Sci ence and Arts teacher trainees of north Gujarat. Methodology: This is an attempt to survey the awareness of teacher effectiveness of teacher trainees of north Gujarat.The survey method of research has been adopted. Sample: The sample is presented in the following tables. Table-1 Gender Wise and Area Wise Distribution of The Sample: Gender Rural Urban Total Male 36 17 43 Female 20 21 41 Total 56 38 94 Table-2 Gender Wise and Stream Wise Distribution of The Sample: Gender Science Arts Total Male 16 37 53 Female 09 32 41 Total 38 56 94 Tool for data collection: The data was collected by using a self constructed questionnaire and group interview technique. The questionnaire consisted of questions regarding the awareness of teacher effectiveness of teacher trainees. Presentation of data: After computing the data of 94 teacher trainees of north Gujarat of the year 2006-07 the following as given in table 4,5and 6. See Table 3,4 Observations: Observing the above table, the following observations can be made.

3) There is a significant difference at 0.01 levels in the mean score of awareness of teacher effectiveness between Science and Arts teacher trainees of north Gujarat. Conclusion: From the above observation the following conclusion can be drawn. 1) Area of the teacher trainees does not have impact on the awareness of teacher effectiveness. 2) There is a significant difference at 0.01 level in the mean score of awareness of teacher effectiveness between male and female teacher trainees of north Gujarat More over the mean score of female is higher than the male teacher trainees which shows the greater teacher effectiveness of female. 3) There is a significant difference at 0.01 levels in the mean score of awareness of teacher effectiveness between Science and Arts teacher trainees of north Gujarat. More over the mean score of Arts teacher is higher than the Science teacher trainees which show the lower teacher effectiveness of Science teacher trainees.
