Release Highlights
Introduction [2201 : 12-Apr-2011] Thousands of organizations around the world rely on JD Edwards EnterpriseOne applications for their daily business operations. Supporting every JD Edwards EnterpriseOne installation is a JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools release which delivers an efficient independent secure and reliable platform for the application modules and the supporting technologies (including databases hardware browsers and operating systems) from Oracle and other technology companies. Since all JD Edwards EnterpriseOne users interact with tools through every transaction every JD Edwards EnterpriseOne customer will derive multiple business benefits from improvements to the Tools releases. These Tools releases are also a key part of providing customers with a lower overall Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Oracle delivers new releases of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools through three release vehicles 1. Major releases such as Tools 9.1. Major releases are typically delivered every 1 to 2 years. 2. Tools release updates such as Tools 9.1 Update 1 (9.1.1). Tools release updates are typically delivered every 6 to 12 months. 3. Maintenance packs such as Tools 9.1 Update 1 maintenance pack 1 (9.1.1.1). Tools Maintenance packs are typically delivered every 1 to 2 months. These tools releases are designed to be backward compatible meaning a customer can apply a new tools release without a corresponding application upgrade. This allows customers to add value to their enterprise applications without major changes to their business processes. While it is not always possible to provide backwards compatibility for every new tools feature or to every prior applications release backward compatibility is a design goal of tools releases. Please refer to the product release notes for details on a feature level compatibility by application release. Three themes support this release - Theme 1: Dramatically Improve End User Productivity - Theme 2: Continue to Reduce the Total Cost of Ownership - Theme 3: Leverage the Underlying Technology Infrastructure Status: Planned Type: Feature Industry:
