Position Title Interview Process Interview Process The interviewer will have 45 60 minutes to complete their interview with each candidate. Every interviewer has been assigned certain leadership competencies to investigate during the interview process. In addition, each interviewer will assess the technical competencies necessary to be successful in the position. At the end of each interview, the interviewer will rate the candidate responses and include that rating on the bottom of the last page. When all the interviews have been completed, the team of interviewers will come together to meet and discuss each candidate and their ratings. A consensus total score will be given for each candidate. The top candidate will be determined by who has the highest scores. Interview Questions The interview guide is organized in this order: Career History / Technical Skills, Leadership Competencies. The first interview question asks the candidates to explain their career history. It is during this time that the interviewer will determine whether or not the candidate possesses the critical technical skills needed for the position. Here are some questions to ask during the review of the candidates career history: 1. What were you hired to do? 2. What were the top three (3) accomplishments you were most proud of? 3. With whom did you work? a. What was it like to work with your boss? What would he tell me about your strengths and weaknesses? b. How would you rate the team you inherited? What changes did you make? Did you hire anybody? How would you rate the team that you left? 4. Why did you leave the job? The remaining interview questions cover the leadership competencies necessary for a candidate to possess to be successful in the position. The interview questions are organized to help you collect the information that you need to make an accurate rating. In each candidate answer, you are looking for the candidate to describe a Situation, explain what Action they took, and identify the Results of the action, they took. In the guide, there is a space for you to record the candidates response to each of those 3 questions. Ratings Rating each interview questions is important. The rating scale is 1 5, 5 being the highest rating. A 5 rating is given for complete answers to STAR (Situation/Action/Results) that are appropriate for this position. A 1 rating is given 1|Page
