r Jaganntha Mah-Bhva-Praka

am very happy to come here and meet you all on this auspicious full moon day, Lord Jagannthas snna-ytr, bathing ceremony. Jaganntha takes a public bath today. You might have seen in Jaganntha Pur, how Jaganntha, Baladeva and Subhadr are sitting and taking a public bath on this day. Why does He take a public bath on this day? What is the occasion? Does anyone know? Devotee: It is His appearance day. rla Gour Govinda Swami: Today is Jagannthas birthday. Jaganntha is Ka. Kas birthday is in the month of Bhdrava, that is aami, the eighth day of the dark fortnight, Kami. Jaganntha is Ka so how is it Jagannthas birthday? That is another question.
1

Snna-Ytr

Devotee: Jaganntha is a manifestation of Ka. rla Gour Govinda Swami: Yes. Jaganntha manifested on this day. Jaganntha is carved out of wood so Jaganntha, Baladeva and Subhadra appear in wooden forms today, three logs of wood. He appears in that form today. This is His birthday. It is mentioned in the Skanda Pura. So on this day He takes a public bath. Rathaytr, the car festival will come after fifteen days. Jaganntha will be painted nicely, then Jaganntha gives darana in His fresh color and young appearance, known as nava-yauvana vea. Then after 15 days from today, Rathaytr will take place. So this is the birthday. Then next question comes. Why? From this day we should offer prayers to Lord Jaganntha, beg for His mercy. So I will recite Jagannthas prayer, prama. You will all repeat and you will get the mercy of Jaganntha.

Why are They in this Form?

Jaganntha is Ka. Jaganntha, Balarma and Their sister Subhadr, why do They have these forms with big, big dilated eyes, and hands and legs shrunken? Why is it? Does anybody know why hey are in this form? What is it? Why this mahbhva form? Why mah-bhva? Devotee: It is Ka feeling separation from Rdhr. rla Gour Govinda Swami: Ka feels separation. What happened to Balarma and Subhadr? (devotees laugh) Why are They in that form? Devotees: We were hearing a story. rla Gour Govinda Swami: What story? Devotee: a story in Vndvana. rla Gour Govinda Swami: re bb! Why is He carved like that? That is what you should understand. Why that form came out. Devotee: It is an unfinished form. rla Gour Govinda Swami: Why is it unfinished? Why in that form?
7

Snna-Ytr

Devotee: Because the king promised that rla Gour Govinda Swami: re, that is not the reason (devotees laugh). Everything takes place by the will of the Lord, so why will the Lord appear in that form? They are not finished, the king promised, these are external things, they are external, bhya, bhya. You should understand what is the real cause?

Kas Heart is in Vrajabhmi

Ka left Vrajabhmi, came to Mthura, then went to Dvrak and married more than sixteen thousand wives. They are all serving Him very nicely, still Ka is not happy. He is just staying there physically, but His mind, heart, everything is in Vrajabhmi with the damsels of Vrajabhmi, especially Rdhr, with His father and mother, Nanda and Yaod, with the very dear cowherd boys. They are very dear. Though the queens are serving Him, still, sometimes Ka while sleeping, deliriously He is calling: Rdhe, Rdhe, Rdhe, Rdhe. Gop, gop, gop. The queens are thinking, What is this? We are taking so much care of Ka. Why is our most beloved husband thinking like this? And while sleeping, in a dream he is uttering: Rdhe, Rdhe, gop, gop, like a delirious madman. Who are they?

His Queens Love is Mixed

They dont know, and they have no access to Vrajabhmi because they are aivarya-may, full of opulence. Vrajabhmi-ll, vraja-ll is mdhurya-may-ll, very sweet transcendental ll, there is no question of aivarya, opulence. The aivarya is covered up with mdhurya in Vrajabhmi, whereas in Mathur and Dvrak, mdhurya is covered up with aivarya. So the queens,
8

r Jaganntha Mah-Bhva-Praka

Rukmi, Satyabhm, Jmbavat, so many wives have no access there. They are aivarya-may not mdhurya may. The damsels of Vrajabhmi, and chief is Rdhr, they are all mdhuryamay. Their love is not mixed with jna and aivarya, but it is pure love. But the love of the wives of Ka in Dvrka is mixed with jna and aivarya, therefore not pure. When jna and aivarya are mixed, then prti-sakucita, the love becomes shrunken.

Vraja-Ll is Intoxicating
So the queens wanted to know the reason, why sometimes when Ka is sleeping He is uttering Rdhe, Rdhe, gop, gop, so they asked Rohi Mt, Mother, please tell us why Ka is always thinking like that? We are taking so much care. Mother Rohi said, O, vraja-ll is such sweet mdhuryamay-ll, so nectarian, intoxicating, sweet ll. How can I describe it? It is such a ll, if I speak about it, it is so attractive even Ka and Balarma will be attracted. Yes, please tell us. We have no access, we cannot go there, at least we will hear about it. We cannot take part in the rsa dance, we are deprived of that. In this way they requested Mother Rohi. Rohi agreed, All right.

Subhadr Barred the Entrance

In the big hall more than 16 000 wives assembled, Mother Rohi said, I will tell you, but there is one condition. This ll is so attractive Ka and Balarma will be attracted. If They come here everything will finish, I cannot speak. So one of you should stay at the door and keep guard. If she sees Ka and
9

Snna-Ytr

Balarma coming she will indicate to me and I will stop speaking. They are all are interested in hearing so who will guard the door? They requested Subhadr, All right, Subhadr, you go and guard there. Subhadr went to the doorway and stretched out her arms sideways, barring the entrance.

Subhadr Could Not Indicate to Rohi

Rohi Mother began narrating the intoxicating story. Everyone was hearing with concentrated attention. Subhadr, standing guard at the door is hearing vraja-ll kh. When she became ecstatic her hands and legs retracted into the body, her eyes dilated. In the meantime Ka and Balarma came, and Subhadr already intoxicated couldnt indicate to Rohi. So Ka and Balarma came as Jaganntha or Ka, on one side, and Balarma on the other, They heard Rohi speaking, Oh! Vraja-ll, so sweet! Ka is always thinking of Vrajabhmi. Then all of them became ecstatic, Their hands and legs shrank into their body their eyes became dilated, then the three forms, Jaganntha, Subhadr, Baladeva standing there.

This Form Should Appear and Be Worshipped

In the meantime Nrada came. From a distance Nrada saw these three ecstatic forms, mah-bhva-praka. As Nrada came nearer those forms vanished, and their natural legs and hands came out. Nrada said, I saw this form! I already saw these forms! My request is that this form should appear and be worshipped. That is Jaganntha, Balabhadra, Subhadr in that ecstatic form. That was Nradas request.

Acute Pangs of Separation

Ka is always thinking of Rdhr, feeling acute pang of separation from Rdh and the gops in Vrajabhmi. In Vrajabhmi Rdhr and all gops are feeling acute pangs of separation from Ka Sometimes Ka faints, becomes unconscious. In Vrajabhmi, the same thing happened, Rdhr fainted, unconscious. Ka here fainted, unconscious, feeling acute pangs of separation from Rdh and Rdhr is feeling acute pangs of separation from Ka. One day it happened, Ka fainted and fell down unconscious. His consciousness is not coming back. What is to be done? By the arrangement of providence Nrada Muni and Uddhava came there. Nrada and Uddhava are very dear to Ka, they know everything, they are all-knowing personalities, Nrada Muni and Uddhava said, Ka fainted thinking of Rdhr, feeling acute pangs of separation from Rdh, therefore Kas condition is like this.

How to Bring Back Kas Consciousness?

This is a wonderful mysterious ll that Ka is now going to manifest. Ka is ll -puruottama, so a wonderful ll He is going to manifest. Still they are all in anxiety, how to bring back consciousness to Ka? They are anxious. Meanwhile Balarma came, the three of them are there, Balarma, Nrada and Uddhava, discussing the problem, how to bring back Kas consciousness. They came to the conclusion that Nrada Muni should sing and play his v. Ka will hear vraja-ll and He will regain His consciousness. That is the clue. All three came
11

Snna-Ytr

to this conclusion. Nrada said, I can do it but there is one danger. What danger? As soon as Ka regains His consciousness, wakes up, He wont wait. Hell get up and run very quickly to Vrajabhmi, yes, I know it, this will happen. So my request is that we tell Druka to keep the chariot ready. Druka is Kas charioteer. Tell Druka that as soon as Ka wakes up, He will certainly run, so let the chariot be ready.

Uddhavas Apprehension
Then Uddhava, thinking very deeply said: Yes, you are correct, but from what I understand, the vraja-gops, Rdhr especially, are feeling acute pangs of separation from Ka, their condition now in Vrajabhmi is grave, they are in a dying condition and they are all very, very weak. If Ka goes there and sees them in this condition He wont be able to tolerate it. The condition there will be so precarious I feel that we will not get Ka back. Uddhava said like that. Nrada said, O Uddhava, you are Kas messenger. Ka sent you to Vrajabhmi as a messenger, dta, carrying His message of love, so I am saying that you should go ahead to Vrajabhmi and inform all vrajavss that Ka is coming from Dvrak, that He has just started His journey, He will reach there soon. Hearing this Uddhava became morose and said: All right Nradaj, whatever you say, I accept your order on my head because you are a most elevated person. I have no objection, but I do have one apprehension. What is that?
12

r Jaganntha Mah-Bhva-Praka

You might all know this, that when Ka sent me from Mthura carrying His message of love to the vrajavss, I went to Vrajabhmi and stayed there for three months. I went there to give them consolation, but what consolation could I give them? They are feeling so acute pangs of separation from Ka and always crying for Ka. If someone is crying, his friends will come and ask him, Hey, why are you crying? O, my wife died. O, your wife died? Yes, that is natural, your wife died. It is a temporary relationship. Everything in the material world is temporary, why are you crying, lamenting? But what consolation can I give them? How can I say, Dont cry for Ka? That will be a great apardha, a great offence on my part. We have a perfect, eternal, loving relationship with Ka. It is not a temporary or material relationship. When every material relationship breaks, we give consolation. What consolation can I give the vrajavss? I have no language. How can I say dont cry? Rather my heart says to tell them, Cry more! Cry more! Cry more! If you want to cry, cry for Ka. Mahprabhu is teaching this. Mahprabhu, feeling acute pang of separation is crying for Ka. He is in rdh-bhva. So I couldnt do anything. I said, All right, all right, I am going back. I will tell Ka everything and I will request Him, Please, go immediately to Vraja. I gave these words to them, but Ka has not yet gone, not yet gone. If after this long interval I go there and again tell them that Ka is coming, they wont have any faith in my words. Rather they will say, You are a liar! You are a liar! You are liar! You told us you would send Ka immediately. Ka had not come, and now again you are saying? No, they wont put faith in my words. Uddhava said like that. Theyll all chastise me and call me bad names. So how can I go?

Balarmas Heart Broke

Balarma was hearing everything. Then Nrada and Uddhava requested, Balarma Prabhu, please, You go. You go, Balarmas heart is cracking. He said, Nradaj, you see, I would have gone to Vraja. I would not have waited for that time. I would have gone to Vraja, but you think very deeply, your Prabhu Ka only says, Yes, Ill go, Ill go, Ill go, Ill go, Ill go, but He is not going. He is only saying He will go but He is not going. I saw that Ka is not going. Then I went to Vraja. Balarma said, I went to give them consolation. I stayed there for three months. I told them, Please dont lament. Have patience, Ka is coming, Ka is coming. I also told them like that, but they are like fish out of water. Ka is their life, and their life has gone out. Now they are all feeling acute pangs of separation. They are in such a condition, that they are dying. I could see very well that without the presence of Ka their condition cannot improve, so they are all in a dying condition. Only Kas presence will bring back their life, otherwise, in such a condition there is no hope. I especially went to Mother Yaod and touched her feet. I said, Mother, please dont lament. I am going back to Dvrak. As soon as I reach Dvrak I will request Ka to come here immediately. I also told them like you. I will make all the arrangements and I will send Ka immediately. Please have patience. I told Ka to go immediately to Vrajabhmi. I requested Ka many times. Ka said, Yes, yes, I will go, I will go. but He is not going. I told Him, O my brother Ka, stop all Your work here and immediately go to Vraja because You are the life of the vrajavss. They are dying, their life is leaving them. Previously, whatever I had told Ka, immediately He accepted, but this request He has not accepted up to now. He is only saying,
14

r Jaganntha Mah-Bhva-Praka

Yes, Ill go, Ill go. How can I go again? What shall I tell Mother Yaod? How can I show my face to Mother Yaod? What will Mother Yaod think of Me? Tell me. Saying this thing Balarma started crying. He felt so deeply for them, His heart broke.

Subhadr Will Go to Vrajabhmi

At that time Subhadr came. Hey! Dont think so much. I will go to Vrajabhmi. I am a woman, nri api, so I will go to Mother Yaod, sit on her lap and wipe away the tears from her eyes with my sr, then I will tell her, O my mother, Ka is coming, we have made the arrangements for Kas coming. We have come ahead. Ka is a bit late but He is coming along the road with many kings. There are many ladies and gentlemen, they have decorated the gates to welcome Ka. I have come ahead to inform you. Ill tell like that. Hes a bit late, but still coming. I came to give you this message. Have patience, dont cry, dont be so upset, dont be in such anxiety. Then Ill go to the gops and then tell them, Ka is coming, He is a bit late. You should know, the male persons, they are a little crooked. But we women, we are very simple, but the males are a little crooked. When speaking as a woman, my sisters will put faith in my words. So now engage yourselves in giving a nice welcome to Ka, arranging a big festival. I will organise them to be engaged so that they will give up crying, give up lamenting. When Subhadr finished speaking, Nrada, Uddhava and Balarma agreed, O yes, this is nice, this is a very good proposal.

15

Snna-Ytr

Why Would Subhadr Go Alone?

Baladeva has love and affection for Vrajabhmi. Thinking seriously Balarma said, Why will Subhadr go alone? Ill also go. So the two chariots came, one for Balarma and one for Subhadr. Therefore, in Rathaytr, Baladevas chariot goes first, then Subhadrs chariot goes next, and Jagannthas chariot comes last. Now Balarma said, Ill go with My sister, Subhadr. Then three chariots were decorated. Uddhava and Nrada said, You both, brother and sister, Baladeva and Subhadr go, we will make arrangements to send Ka after you go. We are giving our word.

Ka Drank the Mellow of Radha-Prema

Balarma and Subhadr climbed up on their chariots and the wheels started rolling. As the wheels of their chariots rolled forward Nrada Muni started to sing vraja-ll, prema-ll, mdhurya-ll krtana with his vin-tantra. As soon as that krtana entered Kas ears immediately His consciousness returned, He jumped up and stood in tri-bhaga bhagi, three places curved, Hey! Where is My flute? Where is My flute? Who took My flute? In Mthura and Dvrak there is no flute, only in Vrajabhmi there is a flute, and only in Vrajabhmi tri-bhaga bhagi, Ka is curved in three places, not in Mthura or Dvrak. Ka is not like that. O! Where is My flute? Where is My mohana-mural? Who took it? Oh, this is the work of the gops. Saying this, O gops! O Rdhe! He ran and ran. Ka is mad now. He started running. Then He looked and saw Uddhava and Nrada. Ka is always thinking of Vrajabhmi, the gops and Rdhr. He has forgotten that He is in Dvrak,
16

r Jaganntha Mah-Bhva-Praka

so He is asking, Where is My flute? The gops have stolen it. When He saw Uddhava, Hey Uddhava! Why are you here in Vrajabhmi? Then He saw Nrada. re! Nrada? Why are you here in Vrajabhmi? Ka has completely forgotten that He is in Dvrak. He always thinks of Vrajabhmi. Why are you both here? Then Uddhava and Nrada told Him: O, our Lord, You will go to Vraja, we have already prepared Your chariot. Go and sit there! We have already prepared, ratha is prepared, Please go and sit there. Ka is always thinking of Rdhr, like a mad man, as if He is intoxicated with liquor. Rdh-prema-rasa, He has drunk the mellow of radha-prema, so He was intoxicated like a mad man. Both Nrada and Uddhava helped this mtla, mad man, Ka and took Him into the ratha. He was so mad and saying O, Rdhe, Rdhe! In this condition He sat in the ratha. Then Nrada and Uddhava told the driver to drive very speedily and Druka drove the ratha at the speed of the wind, vyudeva.

Mah-Bhva-Praka
So in the meantime Subhadrs and Baladevas rathas already reached Vrajabhmi. Kas ratha goes behind. This is Rathaytr. Just thinking of Vrajabhmi Balarma became ecstatic, that is mah-bhva-praka with his hands and legs shrunken, and eyes dilated. Because what the mood inside is, is externally visible. The visibility is that immediately the form changes. It is the mood inside, that bhava. Because there is no difference between deha [the body] and deh [the embodied soul] for a conditioned soul it is different, deha and deh, but Balarma s deha and deh is not different: what is inside, that is outside. So in that form Balarma is with Jaganntha in Pur temple. In that
17

Snna-Ytr

form with eyes dilated, hands and legs shrunken, ecstatic mahbhva and in the same condition is Subhadr also, yes Subhadr has the same condition. Subhadr could not go to Mother Yaod because of that ecstatic condition. Thinking of Vrajabhmi they developed that bhva. This vraja-bhva vrajara-mdhurma, the sweetness of Vrajabhmi is vast like an ocean, now Balarma and Subhadr are drowning in that ocean of mdurya. This bhva is mah-bhva-praka.

Rdhr is in a Dying Condition

Then on the other side, what is the condition of Rdhr? Rdh is in a dying condition. There is doubt, is She really alive or has She died? All of the vrajavss, the inhabitants of Vrajabhmi were in anxiety. Rdhr is almost dead. All Her sakhs, especially Her aa-sakhs, very intimate sakhs were surrounding Her not knowing what to do. O, our dearest sakh is in this condition. Hanging their heads the aa-sakhs were sitting there as if there is no life in them. They are also in a dying condition, especially Lalit and Vikh, Rdhrs most intimate girl companions, and they were only just holding on, with some patience, and chanting, ka-nma-krtana into Rdhrs ears: Hare Ka Hare Ka Ka Ka Hare Hare Hare Rma Hare Rma Rma Rma Hare Hare. Sometimes they hold a piece of cotton under Rdhs nose to see whether Her breath is coming and Rdhr is alive or dead, to see if the cotton shakes or not. There is very slow, very slow breathing. Such is Rdhrs condition. Rdhr is lying in Her kuja, nidhuvana-kuja with Her head in Lalit-sakhs hands.

18

r Jaganntha Mah-Bhva-Praka

Ayana Ghosh is er So-Called Husband

At that time Rdhrs so-called husband, Ayana Ghosh came. Her Real husband is Ka. Ayana Ghosh is er socalled husband. It is external only. Ayana Ghosh came to see Rdhrn. He was crying and crying he touched the feet of Rdhr, took some dust from Rdhrs feet and put it on his head, and said: O, all-worshipable Rdhe! I have never touched Your body. I have no such fortune. How can he touch Rdhrs body? Nobody else but Ka can touch Rdhrs body. Ayana Ghosh said, I have not touched Your body, I have no such fortune, but today I have had this opportunity to get some dust from Your feet, O Rdhe! My life is successful today, I got some dust from Your feet and put on my head. Today my life is successful.

Kas Desire to Relish Paraky-Rasa

Everyone knows that I am Ktyyans pjr, and my worshipable Dev is Paurams. Paurams who is yoga-my. O Rdhe! In order to relish paraky-rasa, paramour love, Ka has manifested this ll. This is Kas ll. No one can conceive of it. This is bhauma-ll, vraja-ll, paraky-rasa-ll. In order to nourish that ll Ka relishes paraky-rasa. All the gops and Rdhr, they are wives of Ka, but in Vrajabhmi they are the wives of others. Kas desire is to relish paraky-rasa, paramour love. Therefore, to fulfill His desire Paurams-dev has manifested this ll. Your real husband is Ka and You are His wife. You are eternally husband and wife, but to fulfill Kas desire to relish paraky-rasa, Paurams ordered Vnda-dev to perform our marriage ceremony. This is
19

Snna-Ytr

only external; it is not real. Ka is Your real husband and You are His wife. You are the goddess of my heart. I married the chy, the shadow of Rdhr, not the real Rdhr. Now that You are in a dying condition, what will happen to us? Having spoken in this way, he cried out, Today, let everyone know that I have married chy-Rdh! When this Rvaa kidnapped St. He could not kidnap the real St; he kidnapped a shadow, chy-st, my-st, illusory St. Similarly this Ayana Ghosh married chy-rdh, not real Rdh. Rdh is the real wife of Ka. Ka is Her real husband, rdh-knta, rdhntha.

The Only Chaste Lady

Then came Kuila, Ayana Ghoshs sister. She is the sisterin-law of Rdhr. Crying and shedding tears, Kuila put her head on the lotus feet of Rdhr. She took some dust from Rdhs lotus feet and put it on her head. Married ladies who are not widowed put vermilion on the parting of their hair, inthi. So Kuila put some dust from the lotus feet of Rdh as vermilion on that inthi. With a choked voice she said, O Rdhe, I am very fortunate today. I got the opportunity to put some dust from Your lotus feet on my inthi. Today I really became sat, a chaste lady. I had great pride. Yes, as great as a skyscraper, ka-cumbi. I was always proclaiming, I am the only chaste lady. There are no other chaste ladies in Vrajabhmi. All are prostitutes. I used to say that and I have tried my best to prove that You are a great prostitute and that You have no chastity at all. Although You married my brother, You are always running to Ka. So I have tried my best to prove that You are most unchaste and that I am the most chaste. You are going to that Ka, disregarding Your
20

r Jaganntha Mah-Bhva-Praka

husband. I had that pride, great pride, but Rdhe! You are allworshipable! Ka is the only husband of all the women in the world, sarva hi pati.

Sannysa Fever
But once a very mysterious thing happened. One day Ka manifested a jvara-ll, as if He was very sick with a high fever. Ka was overcome with a disease, sannysa roga. I will give up everything and take up sannysa. This fever had come. All were in anxiety, How will it be cured? What is the medicine for You? O yes. I know a medicine. What is that medicine? If there is some sat-sdhv, a lady who is very chaste and pure, only she can supply the medicine. Let her go to the Yamun carrying a pot that has hundreds of holes. If she can bring back some water from the Yamun in that pot, and not a single drop of water falls down, then that is the medicine. If you put it on My body I will be cured of this fever. Kuila continued, All decided that I was the most chaste lady. I was always beating drums and proclaiming, I am the most chaste lady and all others are unchaste. So they said, All right. Call her and give her that pot with hundreds of holes. Let her bring water from the Yamun without spilling a single drop. But when I tried to do it, all the water poured out. That proved that I was not chaste at all. Kuila admitted, It was proved; my pride was completely crushed. That is why Ka manifested such a jvara-ll, to crush my pride. Then Rdhr was called. Let us give that pot to Rd21

Snna-Ytr

hr. Let Her bring water. When Rdhr went to the Yamun to fetch water, although the pot had hundreds of holes not a single drop fell out. Kutila continued, So it was proved to the whole world that You are the real chaste lady, not I. Yogamy had created that ll just to crush my pride. O Rdhe, my pride was crushed, but today I am very proud to have had the opportunity to take some dust from Your lotus feet. My life has become successful today.

The Most Condemned Person

Then, from another direction, Candrval came running. She was followed by her sakhs headed by aibya. Candrval came and fell flat, putting her head on the lotus feet of Rdhr. Washing the lotus feet of Rdhr with the tears from her eyes, she said, Rdhe, I am kalaki, I am the most condemned person in Vrajabhmi. It is not You who are condemned, but I. In Vraja, everyone is condemning Rdhr. Rdhr says, ko v na yti yamun pulina vane rdh nme kalakapavada Who is not going to the Yamun to fetch water? But if I go, then I become a prostitute. Everyone says, O, She is a prostitute. On the plea of fetching water She went to the Yamun only to mix with Ka. Who is not going to the Yamun to fetch water? Everyone is going, but when Rdh goes, suddenly She becomes a prostitute. They accuse Rdhr in this way, but Candrval said, No, I am condemned. You are not condemned; O Rdhr. Sri Ka is Your real husband. You are leftist, so sometimes Ka goes to my kuja just to increase Your leftist mood. That is my good fortune. In that way I am related to You. Today I am very

fortunate that I could put my head at Your lotus feet, O Rdhr. Though I am very eager to fulfill the desires of Ka, still, I am most distressed and condemned. I have become a cause of taking Ka away from You. Ka is Your husband. Sometimes Ka goes to my kuja, but He is not happy with me. He is only happy with You. Even in dreams, He only thinks of You. He never thinks of me. It is said that while Ka is with Candrval, He thinks of associating with Rdh. He never thinks of Candrval. He never gets such pleasure or happiness when He is with her. Candrval said, This is all ll created by yogamy. Yogamy has made everyone dance here in Vrajabhmi. And, for the pleasure of Ka, in whatever way she made us dance, we all danced. I know it very well. Everyone here is engaged in nourishing the ll of Ka, nothing else. But today I heard that You were in a dying condition. If You give up Your body then no one in this Vrajabhmi will survive, O Rdhe, not even a single animal. Everyone will die. Then Ka will never come to Vrajabhmi. We will never see Ka again. Please dont die. Candrvali said like that.

Ka Appears in Nidhuvana
Just at that moment, Kas chariot reached Vrajabhmi. As soon as Ka arrived in Vraja, He jumped down from His chariot. Yogamy was manifesting another ll. As if by providential arrangement, Ka appeared there in Nidhuvana where Rdhr was lying as if dead. Ka ran there, and from His mouth the words were coming, rdhe, rdhe, dehi-pada-pallavam udram, O Rdhe! O Rdhe! Please give Me Your lotus feet. I want to put them on My head. Ka is shouting in

that way. Such a wonderful ll was manifest. Ka, feeling the acute pangs of separation from Rdhr, became completely ecstatic. His hands and legs were pushed into the body. He became like a tortoise. This is the form of Jaganntha. With big dilated eyes He was only gazing at Rdhr, who was lying there in the kuja as if dead. Seeing Her condition, He lost His consciousness and fell to the ground. In that form He is feeling the acute pangs of separation from Rdh. That is the form of Jaganntha, rdh-bhva sindhure bhsamna, as if He is a log of wood floating in the ocean of rdh-bhva.

Ka in a Tortoise-Like Form
The wind was blowing over the transcendental body of Ka. When that wind touched the body of Rdhr, who was just about to die, it acted like a soothing balm. Rdhrs life returned immediately. In a very sweet voice, rmati Lalita whispered in the ear of Rdhr, Ka has come. When She heard this, Rdhr gradually opened Her eyes to see Her pra-vallabha, most beloved Ka. This was the medicine by which She regained Her life and got up. Now She has forgotten everything. All the pangs of separation have completely gone. Ka is still unconscious in this tortoise-like form. Seeing Ka in this condition, rmati Rdhika gave direction to Her priya-sakh, Vikh, Please help Ka. Vikh knows what medicine to apply. In a very sweet voice she started to chant the name, Rdhe, Rdhe, Rdhe, in the ears of Ka. Hearing this, Ka regained His consciousness and opened His eyes. Ka looked at Rdhr and Rdhr looked at ymasundara, Ka. Eye-to-eye union. Then everyone forgot the past condition. Where is Dvrka? Where are Kas pangs of separation?

And where is rmati Rdhrs viraha? All these things have now gone. This is the union of Rdh and Ka in Nidhuvanakuja. Nidhuvana-kuja is where nia-ll, the night pastimes of Rdh and Ka, take place. So the sakhs arranged a nice bed and Rdh and Ka spent the night together. Then brahmamuhrta came, 4:00 p.m. A cuckoo bird produced a very sweet sound, cooh! cooh! indicating that dawn had come. Get up! Get up! Get up! Rdh and Ka, get up! The Divine Couple awoke. Ka is standing in His three-fold bending form, ymasundara tri-bhaga. He is dressed in a yellow dhoti with a peacock feather in His hair. Ka is playing on His flute, producing sweet sounds, and on His left side stands Rdhr, dressed in a blue sari. Lalit-sundar is offering paca-pradpa rati. Vikh is singing nice krtana of the union of Rdh and Ka, yugalamahim krtana. Some other sakhs are playing mdga, some karatla, and others are playing the v. Magala-rati is going on; such beautiful, nectarean union after separation. Ka is casting His glance at Rdhr. And through Her eyes, Rdhr is drinking the sweet honey coming from the lotus-like face of Ka. Both of Them are sitting on an effulgent jewelled throne, dvyaratna-sihsana. Vikh started. All the narma-sakhs came, they joined, krtana was there, all pangs of separation gone, now milana, now there is union after viraha, and after union again viraha, Union after viraha, again viraha after union. This is such a nice wonderful mdhurya-may ll in Vrajabhmi.

I am Always With You

So Ka is looking at the lotus-like face of Rdhr, casting glance, casting glance in crooked way, crooked way. Ka

is very crooked person, crooked way, thereby shooting arrows, madana, Cupids arrow and that pierces the heart of Rdhr, pierces the heart of Rdhr, and at the same time also Ka is relishing, the madhu, honey emanating from the lotus-like face of Rdh. Theres honey in the lotus flower, yes, and now both Rdh and Ka sitting on a transcendental golden throne, divya-rngaana, you understand? At that time Ka says, O Rdhe! In tattva there is no separation between Yourself and Myself. Where is separation? There is no separation, In order to show Your vamya-bhva, leftist mood, and raise it to the highest level, I create such ll, such separation. Otherwise in tattva there is no separation. You are always with Me, I am always with You, because Your love for Me is pure love. Rdhe, Your love for Me is like a unlimited ocean and I want to drown in that ocean and enter into the core of Your heart. In order to reach such an ocean and to drown in that deep ocean I have assumed this form, Jaganntha. In this form I will stay eternally in rketra.

Rdh-Prema Sgara
This is Jaganntha-vigraha, rdh-viraha-vidhura, Ka feeling intense separation from Rdh. In the form of a log of wood, He is floating in the ocean of rdh-bhva which is in the heart of Rdhr. So in order to do that I remain in Jaganntha Pur-dhma, Nlcala-ketra in this form, tortoise form: big, big eyes, hands and legs pushed up. In that form I will remain there in Jaganntha Pur-dhma. That is rdh-viraha-vidhura-rpa, feeling pangs of separation from Rdh and become so ecstatic, mah-bhva, just drowning in the rdh-prema sgara. That is the form of Jaganntha. Assuming Your sentiment and com26

plexion, I will also stay in there in the form of r Ka Caitanya in that Pur Ketra. Jaganntha is Ka but rdh-viraha vidhura, feeling acute pangs of separation from Rdh, Caitanya is Ka feeling acute pangs of separation from Ka, rdh-viraha vidhura and ka-viraha vidhura. Two are there. Why id Mahprabhu go there after taking up sannysa? Mahprabhu is in rdh-bhva, always crying for Ka. The same mood Rdhr feels, same mood. Feeling acute pangs of separation from Ka, yes, it is rdh-bhva.

Vipralambha-Ketra
Ka in the form of Caitanya Mahprabhu is ka-viraha vidhura. Ka in the form of Jaganntha is rdh-viraha vidhura. Both are there, meeting in Jaganntha Pur-ketra. Jaganntha is crying for Rdh, and Mahprabhu is crying for Ka. When They meet they see, O, My pra-vallabha. Jaganntha showed His ymasundara form to Caitanya Mahprabhu because He is in rdh-bhva. Then Mahprabhu says, He is My pra-vallabha. Jaganntha is rdh-viraha vidhura and Caitanya is ka-viraha vidhura. Both viraha-vidhuras are there. So Jaganntha Ketra is vipralambha-ketra, the mood of feeling pangs of separation. Ka says, I will appear there in that form, and I will also be in the form of Mahprabhu, accepting Your mood, O Rdhr. With Your complexion, feeling pangs of separation from Ka, and Jaganntha, feeling pangs from Rdh, I will take My brother Balarma and sister Subhadr with Me, because They helped Me in this meeting in Vrajabhmi. Therefore I will appear in this form with My brother Balarma and sister Subhadr.

They Appear in the Form of Three Logs

Do you understand why this form has manifest? So we are all drowning in the rdh-prema samudra, the ocean of rdhprema, and floating in that ocean of rdh-prema are three logs. On this day Jaganntha, Baladeva, Subhadr appear in the form of three logs, floating in the ocean of rdh-prema. Today is that day, Snna-ytr day, the birthday of Jaganntha. Therefore there is a public bathing ceremony. Jaya Jagannthaj ki! Jaya! Jagannthaj snna-ytr mahotsava ki! Jaya! So this is the ll. I Myself will relish that prema-rasa, that nectarean loving mellow emanating from harinma sakrtana and I will also distribute it to all fortunate jvas, those are very greedy for it. I will give them an opportunity to relish it. All of you vraja-gops, gopas-gops will be there taking part in My caitanya-ll as My associates. All the vrajagopas are gops in male forms at that time, in caitanya-ll. Rya Rmananda is Vikh-sakh, Svarpa Dmodara Gosvm is

The other face of guru is the manifestation of Nitynanda Rma. Baladeva has a plough in His hand and Ka has a flute. Ka and Balarma, plow and flute, Why? Plow means plowing, deep cultivation of the ketra, the field to take out the weeds and throw them away then the barren field will be a fertile field, then the bhakti-lat-bja will be sown. Baladevas plow is the first requirement, for cultivation. Then Kas flute, akaraa, attraction; karaa-akaraa. Karaa means cultivation, then akaraa, then Kas flute will attract you. Otherwise, if it is not properly cultivated, Kas flute cannot attract you. Both karaa and akaraa, Ka and Balarma, plow and flute. And, Ka Balarma temple.
