The trip will be based in Glasgow and Edinburgh, but will visit other cities to explore various libraries and their collections. Community Needs Analysis Survey and utilization of the tools, resources, and research methodologies for the purpose of analyzing, designing, implementing or modifying, and evaluating library services. Collection Development/Management Focused on collection building and management in 21st century libraries and information agencies. Discussed current issues, practices, and policies related to building and maintaining collections and will examine procedures for evaluating, selecting, acquiring, and deselecting materials. Created collection assessment for Lawson Elementary School library considering budget cuts and policies. Information Technology Discussed types of technologies libraries are currently using, how to use technology to provide highquality and efficient services to patrons, open source software technologies and integrated library systems software, and different types of electronic resources to share and find information. Created an in-depth technology plan for a community college. Research in Library and Information Science Course goals were to understand the purposes, concepts and principles of research in library and information studies, develop research questions about the theory and practices of library science, evaluate research literature, and understand the ethical concerns relevant to the research process. Created a research proposal for public libraries' usage of e-books and e-readers within young adult programming. Reference and User Services Studied a wide variety of print and electronic reference sources and current issues in the provision of reference and user services. Learned effective ways to select information retrieval tools and resources, develop search strategies, and evaluate search results. Created evaluation of various print and electronic resources for Missouri River Regional Librarys Young Adult section. Theoretical Foundations of Service: Diagnosis & Customization Discussed diagnosis and customization of information services, applying cognitive and psychological theories. Also studied individual personality, learning styles, community styles, and characteristics of human information, then applied in the creation and development of individualized, usercentered services. Created engaging 50 minute class presentation on Human-Computer Interaction and Technology and detailed client diagnosis of college student. CONFERENCES AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Missouri Library Association Conference Attended sessions on Young Adult literature, programming in public libraries, and using technology for education in libraries.
