Q: Is the Blackberry process the same as the Apple processes discussed?


A: Blackberry is not yet supported but will in a future release. Android and Apple iOS are supported in this first version.

Q: Could I get a document or brochure for Mobile Management to take to my management team?

Q: Does MDM provide the ability to back up music, video along with Contacts?
A: The first release of Kaseya MDM supports Contact backups in addition to the ability to reapply profiles.

Q: How do you plan to deal with iOS and Android updates potentially breaking the Kaseya app?
A: The Product is in active development. As a registered developer, we are informed of OS updates and allowed to develop for them prior to their release.

Q: What is the pricing for Kaseya MDM?


A: Please follow up with your Kaseya sales rep.

Q: Will the iPhone/iPad application be consistently running and able to be closed by double-tapping the home key?
A: Yes. However, closing the app will not disable any profile configurations that have already been set on the device. Alerts can be configured from the central server to notify the IT staff if an agent has not checked in.

Q: Is it possible to allow location tracking only during certain hours, i.e. business hours?
A: In the current version, tracking is manually turned on or off, not scheduled.

Q: Does Kaseya MDM provide a selected wipe or is the wipe "all or nothing?"
A: The current version will only be able to do a full wipe to factory defaults.

Q: Any chance of "proximity alerts" being incorporated into a future release? Along the lines of, "Send me an e-mail when so-and-so gets to the office," where "the office" is a set perimeter around certain coordinates?
A: Not available in the first release as a default alert. The log data is stored within the Kaseya database. As a result, a custom alert could be configured.

Q: Will the agent be a visible icon on the device?


A: Yes.

Q: Can the user request support from the device?


A: Not from the Agent at this time.

Q: Can the agent remove unapproved applications?


A: Application management is not supported in this release, but is planned for a future release.

Q: Are you able to recover the phones stats, battery life, call durations, data usage etc?
A: There are power logs that can be pulled, but we are not currently pulling things like SMS', call logs.

Q: Can the agent report the browser history?


A: Not at this time. It can remove Safari though, so browsing is not an option.

Q: Can you create date/time ranges for more frequent polling?
A: Yes, you can change the profile for polling intervals.

Q: Can you change settings of the built in VPN?


A: Not in version 1.0.

Q: With the security of the phone, does it lock that menu so the end user can't change it?
A: We can't lock the overall menu on the device.

Q: Can you hide the Apps that are defaulted on the iPhone?
A: Yes.

Q: Can you restore individual contacts or do you have to do the whole list?
A: Yes, you can restore individual contacts or all.

Q: Is the GPS capability a standard feature or there is an additional cost?


A: The capability is included as a feature within the KMDM module.

Q: Is this module available with SMEE?


A: K2 version 6.2 is required for KMDM.

Q: When using wipe will it keep the agent installed? Or wipe that as well?
A: It will wipe the entire device including the agent. The thought is that the device has been irretrievable when wipe is initiated.

Q: How do you make certain the agent is always running?
A: The agent starts by default on startup. The user does have the ability to stop the agent (just like any other running app), and in this case you could be alerted that the device has not checked in.

Q: Does the mobile devices check-in to the Kaseya server the same way as desktops? Therefore utilizing the data line.
A: Check-ins are performed over a traditional socket connection, since the checkins are very small they will have little to no affect on the network or battery. Checkins are not as frequent for mobile, as we have the ability to reach out to the device through SMS or Apple Push. You can also configure checkin to only occur when connected via WiFi.

Q: We have a customer on the other side of our country. He does have an issue with WIFI on a handheld device running windows mobile. I could sort this out with this tool?
A: Windows Mobile isnt supported in this version.

Q: What version of the Kaseya framework is required to run MDM?


A: Kaseya 6.2 is required for MDM.

Q: Is a user entitled to remove the software once it is installed by the server?


A: Yes, per the guidelines from Apple and Android. An alert can be configured to notify the administrators if the agent is no longer checking in.

Q: How will this application affect the battery of the device?


A: Battery usage in the controlled release has been low and has been tuned to only checkin based on configured options.

Q: If you already have a machine group called "Acme Shipping" can you put the mobile device with the rest of the machines? Or do they have their own "group?"
A: They can be added to any group... but they only show under the Mobile tab.

Q: Can you run any reports on this? Will info center work with this app?
A: Yes, a set of MDM report templates are included within Info Center.

Q: How about customers with limited data plans, this will affect their usage correct?
A: This will affect usage, but we can limit the footprint of this in many ways. How often the devices check-in, etc. but we can also help provide limitations like disabling Safari to help make sure overages don't occur. You can also configure to only checkin over WiFi.

Q: Can you have screen control of Android phones?


A: Screen control will not be supported in the initial release.

Q: Will this platform support Android tablets and iPad mobile devices?
A: Yes, MDM supports any iOS or Android tablet or phone

Q: What operating systems are supported?


A: Android and Apple iOS devices for the first version.

Q: If the app is removed? You can't wipe it or lock it anymore? Or is there a way if the app is unauthorized removed it get locked?
A: That is correct per the requirement from Apple and Google.

Q: What happens if the mobile user removes the app of the device?
A: An alarm can be generated and then an agent can be pushed out again.

Q: Is there a way to back up phones or ipads?


A: We can back up contacts on these devices.

Q: Can you enforce phone calling restrictions by # / time?


A: Not in version 1.0.

Q: Can you set it to wipe device if lost and battery level reaches x%?
A: Not in version 1. You can send a wipe command, but not make it conditional. However, you can enforce a pin and a max pin attempts which will automatically wipe the device when the max attempts has been reached.

Q: Can the contacts be exported to csv?


A: You can create a custom report to extract the contacts from the Kaseya database.

Q: Can location tracking be applied to windows laptops?


A: Location tracking, as shown in this presentation, is exclusive to Kaseya Mobile Device Management (i.e. Android and iOS based devices) Agent procedures could be written to store GPS data from laptops back to the Audit tables.

Q: Windows Tablets that have GPS, can we use the location tracking on them?
A: Windows tablets are not supported in this release. iOS and Android only.

Q: What options do we have for auto configure email remotely?


A: Email configuration is supported for iOS devices in v1.0 including POP, Gmail and Exchange.

Q: Are there any restrictions based on manufactures?
A: There shouldnt be any restrictions for the supported device OSs.

Q: Is there an extra charge for Mobile Management?


A: There will be an extra charge for Mobile Device Management licenses.

Q: Is the lost device feature something that has to be used in conjunction with the features provided by the phone providers?
A: No. These are controlled by the Agent.

Q: Can you set the number of login attempts before locking the device?
A: Yes.

Q: A major iOS challenge is troubleshooting wireless issues. Do the logs that you capture provide any insight into wireless connectivity?
A: No. The logs retrieved relate to Power and the Kaseya Agent functionality.

Q: Will this work with G1?


A: This functionality will be available for Kaseya v6.2 .

Q: Can we get actual control of the screen with an iPad?


A: Apple will not approve an iOS app that performs remote control to an iPad per their current license agreement. With proper profile configuration, screen control should not be required.

Q: Will this service be available for hosted Kaseya users?


A: Yes.

Q: If device is lost/stolen, and the perp removes the software, is the alarm disabled?
A: Yes, which is why it's important to properly provision the device with an appropriate security profile that requires a pin so that they are unable to do this.

Q: Does the agent comply with Apple's TOS? What are the risks of Apple revoking distribution of the app?
A: Yes. We do NOT ROOT or Jailbreak the device. They will be distributed through the Apple Store and Android Market place. Apple has approved the Kaseya app.

Q: Can Kaseya user roles be set to see devices but not mapping for example?
A: Yes... you will have the same granular functional access control you have in other areas of Kaseya.

Q: Can we turn off or restrict access to Location? - I can see this being sensitive.
A: Yes Location Check in can be controlled by the end user or removed from the administrators view.

Q: Are there any data usage specs for things such as location tracking etc as tablets are on limited data plans so nice to know how much they use
A: We do not report consumption of data used, although you can restrict checkin to WiFi only.

Q: Are there plans to have limited browsing? A sort of web filter.


A: We can eliminate the browser, but not control it if present. Future features will be governed by what Apple and Android allow.

Q: Can we remote screen android tablets?
A: Screen control will not be supported in the initial release. This is a current limitation of Apple and Android.

Q: Will we be able to configure Google apps accounts?


A: Yes. We can configure Gmail setting for iOS.

Q: Will there be an api for this? So we can give limited access to our customers through our website etc.
A: We have very granular user access control, so you can provide specific for your customers business owner to do location tracking, but assure the owner nobody else (even your techs) could perform location tracking if you'd like. We also provide audit logging of what mobile actions admins perform for reporting purposes.

Q: Can 3g or 4g be used to track a phone, or is it WiFi only?


A: Yes... any Network connection will work. Geo location is reported to the agent by the device which will use cellular triangulation if a GPS signal isnt available.

Q: If the phone is rooted (Android), can that impact the Kaseya platform and the management of the device?
A: We do not root the phone... and couldnt "officially" support a rooted phone... but there isnt any reason it wont work unless the person that rooted it has taken specific measures to affect the Agent.

Q: Do these features require a subscription on the device or can they be done through wi-fi (when in range)?
A: These features can be enabled through WiFi with the exception of location tracking which may require a data plan.

Q: Can the user go through web browser to app store?
A: You can remove both the App Store icon as well as the Browser icon from the user. If the app store is removed but the browser is present, the browser version of the app links will fail, as they are designed to launch the app store.

Q: is the auditing/tracking on our processors or yours?


A: The auditing and tracking is stored on the Kaseya Server that you would host or on our Cloud Server if you were to leverage it in the cloud. If you ran it on your own server, no data would be shared outside of your environment.

Q: How do we enable this on our existing Kaseya 6.2 server?


A: There is an trial availble from www.kaseya.com.

Q: If a lost device is lost and wiped, but then found, can the device state/data be restored to a pre-wipe state?
A: No. The phone will have been set back to factory defaults. It can be restored through its iTunes account, but not through Kaseya.

Q: Is there any built-in security to access the business applications through mobiles?
A: Not at this time.

Q: With tracking is there any way to get a view of multiple agents at a time?
A: Yes, there is an option to view multiple devices on the same map.

Q: What type of information can be reported on? Can we report call times?
A: We cannot report call times in this version. Reporting is centered around device status, audit data, installed applications, and lost/found status.

Q: How is control different for devices that are wifi only?
A: We can manage the device through the cellular network or via WiFi. There are no limitations unless the user has no GPS present, as in the non-3g iOS devices.

Q: Remote Exchange setups?


A: Exchange settings can be configured on supported iOS devices.

Q: When company admins are given access to control devices, will that require additional subscription options or is it built in?
A: It will use an existing VSA administrator license.

Q: Can we alert on aged OS?


A: We report on it, but there isnt an alert at this point.

Q: Is there a trial system we can log into and look around?


A: Yes. Refer to MDM feature page to download a trial installer or create a hosted account.

Q: Can we setup VPN/AnyConnect with or without certificates?


A: We cannot install or provision any third party apps in the first version.

Q: Can we push OS updates and/or alarm on outdated OS versions?


A: No.

Q: Can we prevent the user from deleting the agent?


A: We cannot per the Apple and Android license agreements. An alarm can be configured to notify the IT department if the device is no longer checking in.

Q: How does Kaseya's product compare to MobileIron, another mobile phone and tablet management platform?
A: A similar technology, however we offer a broader set of capabilities to iOS and Android. Additionally, the breadth of capacities we can perform with Kaseya is greater across the entire IT infrastructure with our entire software suite, all managed through a single pane of glass.
