Q: Could I get a document or brochure for Mobile Management to take to my management team?
A: http://www.kaseya.com/download/enus/Files/Kaseya_Mobile_Device_Management_1_0_Release_Announcement.pdf
Q: Does MDM provide the ability to back up music, video along with Contacts?
A: The first release of Kaseya MDM supports Contact backups in addition to the ability to reapply profiles.
Q: How do you plan to deal with iOS and Android updates potentially breaking the Kaseya app?
A: The Product is in active development. As a registered developer, we are informed of OS updates and allowed to develop for them prior to their release.
Q: Will the iPhone/iPad application be consistently running and able to be closed by double-tapping the home key?
A: Yes. However, closing the app will not disable any profile configurations that have already been set on the device. Alerts can be configured from the central server to notify the IT staff if an agent has not checked in.
Q: Is it possible to allow location tracking only during certain hours, i.e. business hours?
A: In the current version, tracking is manually turned on or off, not scheduled.
Q: Any chance of "proximity alerts" being incorporated into a future release? Along the lines of, "Send me an e-mail when so-and-so gets to the office," where "the office" is a set perimeter around certain coordinates?
A: Not available in the first release as a default alert. The log data is stored within the Kaseya database. As a result, a custom alert could be configured.
Q: Are you able to recover the phones stats, battery life, call durations, data usage etc?
A: There are power logs that can be pulled, but we are not currently pulling things like SMS', call logs.
Q: With the security of the phone, does it lock that menu so the end user can't change it?
A: We can't lock the overall menu on the device.
Q: Can you hide the Apps that are defaulted on the iPhone?
A: Yes.
Q: Can you restore individual contacts or do you have to do the whole list?
A: Yes, you can restore individual contacts or all.
Q: When using wipe will it keep the agent installed? Or wipe that as well?
A: It will wipe the entire device including the agent. The thought is that the device has been irretrievable when wipe is initiated.
Q: Does the mobile devices check-in to the Kaseya server the same way as desktops? Therefore utilizing the data line.
A: Check-ins are performed over a traditional socket connection, since the checkins are very small they will have little to no affect on the network or battery. Checkins are not as frequent for mobile, as we have the ability to reach out to the device through SMS or Apple Push. You can also configure checkin to only occur when connected via WiFi.
Q: We have a customer on the other side of our country. He does have an issue with WIFI on a handheld device running windows mobile. I could sort this out with this tool?
A: Windows Mobile isnt supported in this version.
Q: Can you run any reports on this? Will info center work with this app?
A: Yes, a set of MDM report templates are included within Info Center.
Q: How about customers with limited data plans, this will affect their usage correct?
A: This will affect usage, but we can limit the footprint of this in many ways. How often the devices check-in, etc. but we can also help provide limitations like disabling Safari to help make sure overages don't occur. You can also configure to only checkin over WiFi.
Q: Will this platform support Android tablets and iPad mobile devices?
A: Yes, MDM supports any iOS or Android tablet or phone
Q: If the app is removed? You can't wipe it or lock it anymore? Or is there a way if the app is unauthorized removed it get locked?
A: That is correct per the requirement from Apple and Google.
Q: Can you set it to wipe device if lost and battery level reaches x%?
A: Not in version 1. You can send a wipe command, but not make it conditional. However, you can enforce a pin and a max pin attempts which will automatically wipe the device when the max attempts has been reached.
Q: Windows Tablets that have GPS, can we use the location tracking on them?
A: Windows tablets are not supported in this release. iOS and Android only.
Q: Is the lost device feature something that has to be used in conjunction with the features provided by the phone providers?
A: No. These are controlled by the Agent.
Q: Can you set the number of login attempts before locking the device?
A: Yes.
Q: A major iOS challenge is troubleshooting wireless issues. Do the logs that you capture provide any insight into wireless connectivity?
A: No. The logs retrieved relate to Power and the Kaseya Agent functionality.
Q: Does the agent comply with Apple's TOS? What are the risks of Apple revoking distribution of the app?
A: Yes. We do NOT ROOT or Jailbreak the device. They will be distributed through the Apple Store and Android Market place. Apple has approved the Kaseya app.
Q: Can Kaseya user roles be set to see devices but not mapping for example?
A: Yes... you will have the same granular functional access control you have in other areas of Kaseya.
Q: Can we turn off or restrict access to Location? - I can see this being sensitive.
A: Yes Location Check in can be controlled by the end user or removed from the administrators view.
Q: Are there any data usage specs for things such as location tracking etc as tablets are on limited data plans so nice to know how much they use
A: We do not report consumption of data used, although you can restrict checkin to WiFi only.
Q: Will there be an api for this? So we can give limited access to our customers through our website etc.
A: We have very granular user access control, so you can provide specific for your customers business owner to do location tracking, but assure the owner nobody else (even your techs) could perform location tracking if you'd like. We also provide audit logging of what mobile actions admins perform for reporting purposes.
Q: If the phone is rooted (Android), can that impact the Kaseya platform and the management of the device?
A: We do not root the phone... and couldnt "officially" support a rooted phone... but there isnt any reason it wont work unless the person that rooted it has taken specific measures to affect the Agent.
Q: Do these features require a subscription on the device or can they be done through wi-fi (when in range)?
A: These features can be enabled through WiFi with the exception of location tracking which may require a data plan.
Q: If a lost device is lost and wiped, but then found, can the device state/data be restored to a pre-wipe state?
A: No. The phone will have been set back to factory defaults. It can be restored through its iTunes account, but not through Kaseya.
Q: Is there any built-in security to access the business applications through mobiles?
A: Not at this time.
Q: With tracking is there any way to get a view of multiple agents at a time?
A: Yes, there is an option to view multiple devices on the same map.
Q: What type of information can be reported on? Can we report call times?
A: We cannot report call times in this version. Reporting is centered around device status, audit data, installed applications, and lost/found status.
Q: When company admins are given access to control devices, will that require additional subscription options or is it built in?
A: It will use an existing VSA administrator license.
