Math 10 Apprenticeship and Workplace Summer School Course Outline Goals: Mathematics is increasingly important in our technological society. Students today require the ability to reason and communicate to solve problems. Development of these skills helps students become numerate. This course emphasizes the development of the knowledge, skills, and attitudes relevant to the development of numeracy. It also promotes the development of positive attitudes, problem solving, communication, applications, reasoning, and the use of technology. Please note the number of lessons posted for each unit below may change depending on student needs. Requirements: This is a hard course, you MUST work hard. This means that you must: attend all classes arrive to class on time (in your seat with your books open by 8am) work as directed during class time ask for extra help if needed BRING to every class: o MathWorks10 Workbook Packages o SCIENTIFIC CALCULATOR o Notebook (or binder) with lots of paper o PENCILS, A GOOD ERASER

In order to get a GOOD participation mark, you must get to class on time, complete all assignments, listening attentively during note taking, be respectful, be on proper behaviour etc. I want all of you to be successful!

SCORING 63% IN CLASS ENSURES THAT YOU WILL PASS MATH 10.

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS: To do well in this class, you must study regularly, do all assignments and be attentive when I teach. There will be homework everyday. You have to be responsible and focused. I expect everyone in the class to treat one another with respect. I will respect you so you are expected to do the same. PLEASE NOTE that there is only one 15 minute break which means you must bring your own snack to et t this time. You WILL NOT have time to leave the school to get food in the neighbourhood. Note: Your parent or guardian must read this course outline and sign it showing that you are committed to this course understanding that we have only 4 weeks to learn one years worth of material. There must be a commitment on your part to do the homework that I assign and review the material in class everyday in order to be successful in this course and to ensure success in the provincial exam in August.
