County Executive Announces 2012 Charter Review Task Force


June 11, 2012 (KANSAS CITY, MO) Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders has announced the following appointees to the 2012 Jackson County Charter Review Task Force. Dianne Cleaver, Chairperson Dana M. Altieri Buford L. Farrington Gayle Holliday James T. Nunnelly Paul G. Rojas Bruce VanCompernolle Dr. Robert E. Hertzog First Alternate Becky Nace Second Alternate

This Task Force will review the issues of term limits and campaign finance in Jackson County elections; as well as state and county procedures for filing for elective office. In making any appropriate recommendations for amendments to the 2010 Jackson County Charter, the Task Force will consider and be guided by the advice of the County Counselor as it regards constitutional limitations on charter powers. The Task Force shall convene promptly and issue its recommendations for updating the Jackson County Constitutional Home Rule Charter by August 6, 2012. In announcing the Charter Review Task Force Sanders said, We are grateful to this group of distinguished Jackson County citizens and for the time and expertise these individuals are willing to spend on this important issue. It will truly benefit us all.

Dianne Cleaver A civic leader and community activist with over 30 years experience working in health, human services and education. With a B.A. in Sociology and a M.A. in Social Psychology, she is a licensed psychologist in the state of Missouri and President of Symmetry Consulting, specializing in human services and educational reform management and issues related to workforce diversity and cultural competence. Dana M. Altieri Currently serves as a municipal judge for the city of Lees Summit, Missouri and is a practicing partner at Altieri & Kelly. She is licensed in Missouri, Kansas, the Western District of Missouri, the District of Kansas and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. Buford L. Farrington As a 6th generation Missourian, he has served in the United States Army Security Agency. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri at Columbia and the University of Missouri, School of Law at Columbia. He is practiced in the areas of estate and business planning, business succession, trusts, tax and real estate for more than 35 years. Gayle M. Holliday President and CEO of G & H Consulting, she has been serving clients in the public and private sectors for over 16 years. She has worked with the Kansas City Port Authority, the Jackson County Sports Authority and the State of Missouri. She has also performed work with many organizations in the areas of public outreach, community relations, strategic planning, win-win negotiations and MBE/WBE business plan development. James T. Nunnelly With over 30 years of commitment to building healthy communities through the creation of cutting edge public health programs, he has positively changed the face of mental health, prevention and substance abuse services in Jackson County. As the Anti-Drug Program Administrator for Jackson County, he oversaw the implementation of 80 law enforcement, treatment and prevention strategies created by the Jackson County COMBAT program. Paul G. Rojas A former member of the Missouri General Assembly, District 23 (1972-1980), he has served numerous terms on the Jackson County Committee. He retired after 39 years with Honeywell International in 2007. He served in the Korean War as member of the United States Navy. Bruce VanCompernolle As a 29 year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local #53, he has extensive experience in grievance and arbitration procedures; negotiating collective bargaining agreements; labor laws and issues relating to healthcare, pensions workers compensation. He has held various positions within IBEW Local #53 including; Union Steward, Unit Chairman, President and has been a Business Representative for IBEW Local #53 for over 11 years.

Dr. Robert E. Hertzog A long-time owner/manager of dairy farms in both Jackson and Johnson counties, he has a long record of public service that includes 16 years as a Jackson County Legislator and membership on the Jackson County Economic Development Commission, the R-7 Lees Summit School Board (three terms) and the Little Blue Sewer Board. A member of the Missouri State Republican Committee for 20 years, Dr. Hertzog also worked on the executive boards of both the American Veterinary Medical Association and American Veterinary Medical Foundation. Becky Nace Owner of Nace Consulting, a WBE Certified Consulting Firm. She is a Project Manager for the Trade Adjustment Assistance Grant for the University of Missouri-Columbia at the Mizzou Center in Blue Springs. She is a former Councilmember for Kansas City, Missouri (1999 2007) and the former Vice President of the Raytown C-2 School District Board of Education.
