Verification: Teacher will check for verification during the lesson by making sure: 1. Students log onto the site correctly to set up their Google Doc 2. The document is titled and shared between the group and teacher 3. Each student completes their five sentences so that they are able to start collaborating on the story within a reasonable amount of time 4. Students are creating a story with a logical beginning, middle and end 5. Students are editing as they go to ensure smooth transitions and proper grammar 6. Students agree on a time to meet online outside of class time ______________________________________________________________ Activity: (90 minutes) (10 minutes) Students form a group of no more than three people. They are each given instructions on how to create a Google Doc from their student apps page on the school server. They all log on, but only one person from the group sets up their document, which must include a title and be shared with the other group members and myself. (10 minutes) Once that is complete each one of them will write five sentences in the shared document about what they did over Summer vacation in the preterit tense in Spanish. They will notice that the sentences from the other group members are also showing up on their document. (40 minutes) After each person writes five sentences, they will stop. They will now have to take all their sentences and figure out how they can be transitioned into a story called, Our Summer Vacation. They will need to decide who will be the document editor. This person will edit the document while the others use the Google Docs commenting feature to collaborate on the changes and transitions their document will have. The editor will see these changes in the comment section and incorporate the ones that everyone agrees on. The editor is also expected to comment. The story must have a logical beginning, middle and end and it must use transition words and proper grammar. When the group is satisfied with their new story, they will log out and discuss the next step. They will need to meet online at least one time outside of the

classroom to finish this project. They need to determine this time before leaving class. (5 minutes - done on their own) Each group member must add two more sentences each, wherever they like within the story, before the scheduled meeting time. (25 minutes - done in online meeting outside of class) During the meeting, they must, again, use the comment feature to discuss and edit the changes. When satisfied with the final product, they must add it into the project folder for their class - found on my Google Docs page. Meeting time should not need to exceed one half hour, and can be as quick as 15 minutes. Notes Students need to document, at the bottom of their stories, their time logged in and out and the participants of their online meeting outside of the classroom.
