To Congure Butt and CyberDuck to Museter!

This is a very quick overview of how to congure and record on Butt, using the Museter service and how to upload les to Museter using CyberDuck. Note: CyberDuck is only used to upload pre-recorded les for broadcast- not to broadcast live. Recording With Butt: 1) Download Butt INFO: http://butt.sourceforge.net/ DOWNLOAD: http://sourceforge.net/projects/butt/les/ 2) Open Butt and Format a.1) Put the Server info into the Main tab by clicking on the Add button:

a.2) Fill out the elds as follows to set up for Museter (password is the usual, stopping at l):

b) Fill out the Stream section as follows (this works for me, but might need to be revised for general use):

Set up the Rec. tab as Follows:

Yellow Save to folder

Make sure to click box that says Start rec. when connected, if you want to record when you broadcast (note you can change this as you please). In the le Filename: eld you can put: rec_(%m_%d_%y)_%i.mp3 This will allow you to record with the date, and record a new le each time (rather than overwriting your last). For the Save to: eld, Click on the yellow folder, which should allow you to select a folder on your computer. When you are done, save the changes to Butt. This can be done, in my experience, by closing the program and saving changes when prompted.

You can now broadcast. (and record if you have the start rec. when connected box checked) by clicking on the white, right facing, triangle on the main GUI.

Click on the white square to stop, (conrm that you want to stop when asked). VERY IMPORTANT: Prior to recording, log on to Museter and disable Auto DJ. After recording, enable Auto DJ. For more see How to Broadcast Live. Museter: http://streams4.museter.com/ Login: obrfm Password: usual Note: this is what works for me, on my mac. I think most, if not all, should work on other computers. If it does not, write the list, and feel free to add to this, or use it to make a new guide for those conditions.

CYBERDUCK (A-wooo-wooo! did anyone else watch Ducktails as a kid?) CyberDuck is FTP software (did I say this correctly?) that can be downloaded for free and lets you upload pre-recorded material onto the Museter playlists. DOWNLOAD/INFO: http://cyberduck.ch/

When you have downloaded the Duck you can congure by clicking on the Open Connection icon in the upper left:

Then ll out the elds as follows:

Note: the port is already set at 21 (this is different from Butts setting). Leave it at 21. The password is the usual... hmmm... best NOT share it liberally beyond regular radio members. After you have done this you can click on the Museter icon and upload mp3 les. VERY IMPORTANT: Only upload les set at 96 kbps. You can convert existing mp3s to 96 kbps, ask and well show you how if you dont know .

When you double click on the Muster Icon you should get something that looks like this. Put les in the media folder.

We are still working out many of the details that follow. If you learn to do all this, you can work it out with us!! Solidarity, fellow Radio Heads! Special thanks to: Matt, Brandon, Sarah, Chris, David and Raymond for teaching me how to do this over the past 6 months. All the mistakes are my own. ~ K
