Conclusion For the experiment, the group aimed to understand the concept of electric field, electric field lines

and equipotential lines and to also find the electric field lines from equipotential lines. The group did this by getting 10 x and y coordinate along the glass pool which registers the same voltage. The process was repeated from 1V to 7V. By the end of the experiment, the group graphed the coordinates and connected the points with the same voltage. Seven curves were produced. These curves were symmetrical with the x axis. Objects with charges produce an electric field. The presence of an electric field is illustrated using electric field lines. The direction of the electric field is illustrated by the electric field lines. The direction of the electric field differs for different charges. The direction of the electric field of a positive charged particle is repulsive while in a negatively charged particle, it is attractive. In our experiment we used dipoles with different charge. Thus this kind of electric field is produced.

Another way of illustrating the effect of a charge on a space around is using equipotential lines. The curves produced from connecting the coordinates obtained from the experiment are the equipotential lines. Equipotential lines are set of points where the electric potential or the voltage is equal. Electric potential can be compared with gravitational potential energy, but in electricity and magnetism, it is the charge that causes the potential energy. Electric potential can be compared to height from the source of force. The

magnitude of the potential energy depends on the distance of the object from the source of electric field. The electric potential difference is the amount of work required to move a charge along an electric field. The illustration of the equipotential lines can also be compared to a topographical map, the areas where the distance between equipotential lines are shorter require more work to move a charge along that place this is because the electric field is stronger in those areas. The electric field lines can be obtained from equipotential line because the slope of the tangent line of an equipotential line are perpendicular with the slope of the tangent line of an electric field line. The equipotential lines are the red broken lines in the figure above. The experiment produced the same results therefore the group was able to attain the objectives of the experiment. The group got data which proves the existence of equipotential lines and learned the relationship between electric field lines and equipotential lines.
