SAMARITAN APPOINTS NEW VICE PRESIDENT FOR LONG-TERM CARE

Watertown, New York ----- As part of its expansion of long-term care services, Samaritan Medical Center announced a New Vice President for Long-Term Care, Mr. Anthony Tony E. Joseph. Though not officially starting until late August, Mr. Joseph will be transitioning into the position throughout the summer in order to expedite the planning process for long-term care, which he will be doing exclusively until the overall plan is finalized this Fall. At that point, he will begin to transition into the day-to-day operations as Administrator of Samaritan Keep Home. Mr. Joseph has been a licensed Nursing Home Administrator for over 30 years. Currently, he serves as the Administrator of Presbyterian Home for Central New York in New Hartford, a role he has held since 1999. He is responsible for the nursing facility, rehabilitation center and adult day healthcare program, along with providing services to a campus that includes assisted living, adult home and independent housing for seniors. We are fortunate to have someone of Tonys caliber join our team, states Thomas H. Carman, Samaritan President and Chief Executive Officer. His experience in and passion for the long-term care industry, as well as statewide connections and leadership roles, are extremely valuable to our future success in serving the long-term care needs of our community. As VP of Long-Term Care, Mr. Joseph will provide leadership and direction for all aspects of long-term care and ensure the attainment of the highest quality of resident care for Samaritan Keep Home and Samaritan Senior Village. Mr. Joseph will eventually serve as Administrator for Samaritan Keep Home and is responsible for providing leadership, staff development, budgeting, and management of key services of both long-term care facilities. I am excited to be joining the Samaritan team and the community, expresses Mr. Joseph. The growth and success of the Samaritan organization is impressive. The employees and residents of the North Country can be proud of the facilities and wide range of quality care being provided at SMC. Among his first priorities will be to develop all elements of the transition plan for the opening of the Samaritan Senior Village, including Mercy/Whispering Pines closure plans, staffing plan and overall facility integration. Mr. Joseph is planning to be on-site on Friday, July 13th to begin acclimating himself to Samaritan, the staff and community. Mr. Joseph received the James W. Sanderson Memorial Award for Leadership from the New York State Association for Homes and Services for the Aging (now LeadingAgeNY). He served as a committee member for the agency, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of the NYS Association of Area Agencies on Aging. He is an adjust professor at State University of New York Institute of Technology at Utica-Rome. ###
