One of the main reasons for which iPads are chosen over laptops in schools is because of price and size. As we all know schools have a limited budget, so saving money is always a great help. According to the article How Schools are Putting iPads to Work iPads are $499 and laptops are $999, so the iPad will be the only option. iPads are also easier to carry and store which is another reason for which iPads are preferred over laptops in schools now.

Younger students such as K-2nd grade will have an iPad in the classroom but will not be allowed to take them home. Older students, 3rd to 12th grade, are allowed to take iPads home with them. Some schools let students keep the iPads all year long, and at the end of the school year they have to turn in the iPads so they can be checked and updated.
