Static Pressure
Consider the following problem Will there be enough pressure to water plant B if the height of the water is ?
Plant B
Plant A
Where are some rates of change occurring that you need to take into account??
Calculus Analysis
You try: A large storage tank, open at the top and filled with
water, develops a small hole in its side at a point 16.0 m below the water level. If the rate of flow from the leak is equal to 2.50 x 10^-3 m^3/min, determine (a) the speed at which the water leaves the hole and (b) the diameter of the hole. c.) the height when dh/dt = sdfkdf
Identify the knowns and the unknowns
Differentiate
Fill in knowns and solve for unknowns
Creativity/Problem Solving/ Completion Criteria: The student - was creative and worked through the difficult task of showing a working model of rates of changes - was resourceful and independent; no teacher assistance - I was wowed and will use the video as an example piece - Done on time Question and Citations Criteria: The student - chose an appropriate question involving the need for differentiation - cited all material and research resources used in the video. At least one citation should be used for the question - Citations were correct with APA format Calculations Criteria: The student - showed the calculations thoroughly - use correct calculations throughout - organized the work and was easy to follow - Explained the work for solving Working Visual and Understanding Criteria: The student. - created a working model that acted out the word problem - the model was well constructed and used appropriate materials - linked the calculations to the real life model
Project 2:
Water Tower Proposal Plan for Goddard Town You will need to problem solve through proposing the best height, volume, placement, and shape for a water tower You will need to figure out how Calculus applies (identify where rates of changes are occurring and influencing this towns daily needs) and show 2 Calculus calculations at work.
You will need to satisfy the Conditions of the town as identified on the Town Water Tower Request handout.
Creativity/Problem Solving/ Completion Criteria: The student - was creative & used problem solving to make a plan - was resourceful and independent; no teacher assistance - I was wowed and will use as an example piece - Done on time Rates of Change and calculus applications Criteria: - Two major rates of changes were identified as influential factors in the proposal - The paper included two mathematical models (the differentiation equations) needed to correctly deliver water to the town - The student met all the demands of the town as given in the Town Water Tower Request Calculations Criteria: The student - showed the calculations thoroughly - use correct calculations throughout - organized the work and was easy to follow - Included the factors of the water towers height, location (distance away from houses), and tower design/shape Reasoning and Paper Formality Criteria: The student. - created a proposal that had reasons for each proposal (a majority should be math reasoning) - used proper grammar and writing rules - used equation editing tools to do easy to follow calculations - cited correctly all material and research resources used in the end of proposal using APA format
