Creation

The development of the iPhone began in early 2005 with the help of Apple CEO Steve Jobs directions to his engineers.

The first iPhone was unveiled by Apple CEO Steve Jobs January 9th 2007 Macworld 2007 and was later released on June 29th 2007.

The main objective was to steer the original focus away from the tablets, like iPad towards these mobiles

Apple created the iPhone with secretive collaboration with Cingular Wireless (AT&T Mobility now). This projects estimated development cost of US $ 150 million over 30 months. Cingular Wireless had proposed a design by committee approach, but Apple rejected it. As this same approach used in Motorolas ROKR E1 was a largely unsuccessful in the market. So the Cingular gave Apple the liberty to iPhones hardware & software in-house, and even paid Apple a fraction of its monthly Service revenue.
