10. Be Prepared
What you do before your presentation is as important as what you do during your presentation. Familiarize yourself with the information youre going to cover by reading over the safety talk and reviewing your visuals. Make notes about personal experiences and gather other resource materials, such as newspaper and magazine articles. Rehearse your presentation from start to finish.

9. Promote The Meeting
Post the meeting date, time, location and topic. Remind employees about the meeting as the date approaches.

8. Arrive early and get ready
Arrive at least 15 minutes early to set up the meeting room. Place the Visuals so that

1)it can be seen easily from any seat in the room. 2) you are on the audiences left, and the visual is on the audiences right. Place the verbal component and interactive component, and any other reference materials in an easily accessible location. Before the meeting begins, have them print and sign their name on the Safety Meeting Attendance Sheet.

Draw upon personal experiences. Ask them a question. Present a scenario. Use humour.

Your focus should be on the audience, and not on the words written on the page.

Interact with the audience by: 1) asking them specific questions about their personal experiences,and 2) getting volunteers to demonstrate specific procedures and tasks.

Suggest how they can work more safely, and the benefits theyll receive by doing it.
